I thought this one regressed badly after giving Imperial Monarch a race in a Curragh maiden.Often seemed to be a short runner.I would lay and lay in running if it wasn't for the connections who seem to be shrewd enough when it comes to buying a good juvenile hurdler.

good call Eddie

never looked like winning despite coming second

Well done.

Was never going to win -still an entire according to the RP-it will be interesting to see if they geld him and go for a small novice hurdle around Christmas time.
Report lapsy pa October 13, 2012 11:35 PM BST
Good shot Eddie, winner looked decent,Handazan was beat a good bit out and as you say seems not to have a lot to offer.
Report Eddie Batt October 14, 2012 12:58 AM BST
To be honest he strikes me as a horse who could get beaten at odds on in a bad novice hurdle during the summer jumping season.
Did Katchit get beat in the corresponding race a few years ago.

Handazan runs at Aintree tomorrow in a 7 runner race.RP have him top rated but I would make him a place lay at odds on.I find it interesting that Alan King is running him on a flat track but for me he didnt show enough at Chepstow.

Market is weak enough at the moment but there should be no problem place laying him at 1.85.The Quinn horse is strong in the betting and for me he is a deadly man with fancied horses first time out in novice hurdles.
Report lapsy pa October 28, 2012 11:58 AM GMT
Handazan would have to improve a fair bit on that Chepstow showing alright Eddie,i,d have to be with you.Discounting Handazan you have Nicholls/Quinn/Mc Cain as the main protagonists, and at around 5/2 Counsel could be worth a little place back in the race.GL

Mmm...was laughing at his reluctance at the first hurdle and when was ridden such a long way out.Was he incredibly game or was it a terrible race.
Report lapsy pa October 28, 2012 1:51 PM GMT
Seemed to just have stayed better, they were legless in the end, possibly nothing great there either.
Report misslimerick85 October 28, 2012 6:51 PM GMT
good tough horse battled well today

I am going to do a complete u turn with this one tomorrow and back him win only to beat Ruby riding a 1/3 shot.Alan King has been really bullish about him in a few interviews and he has been gelded since his last run.I think he will give the favourite a race tomorrow-he might not win but I think he will go considerably shorter in running.
Report workrider December 14, 2012 11:32 PM GMT
fair play eddie , its always good to see a fellow take a stand ....good luck with that....
Report JayTrumpOldTomDubbl December 15, 2012 11:12 AM GMT
Eddie,.......if you think he 'he might not win", just sit back and watch the race, he might be a bet then the next day.No point in throwing money away, Ruby is going weekend nap on his lad...................

5.5 is a very fair price-I will be looking to save my stake at 2.6.
Report Eddie Batt December 15, 2012 12:18 PM GMT
Gutted-touched 1/3 in running.

See your "buddy" is out tomorrow EB,looks to have a fair chance though hard to know what to make of the flat ones(Last shadow looks the best of them there).Think the long straight is a plus for him.
Report Eddie Batt January 8, 2013 11:39 PM GMT
He could have done me a right favour the last day Pa.I don't know what to expect from him tomorrow-he could hack up or be unplaced for that reason I will give the race a miss.
Anyone else think that Choc is shocking these days.
Report huddys January 9, 2013 12:01 AM GMT
Yes eddie alot of his horses seem to make alot of jumping errors recently,
Report pa lapsy January 9, 2013 9:56 AM GMT
Probably best left alone alright as you say Eddie,JP,s one seems very expensive(over a 1/4 million euros) for what he has shown on the flat,he has doubled in price overnight after being backed.
Choc stats at just over 6% over fences is poor, much better over hurdles, his boss Mr King is very quiet these days as well.
Report pa lapsy January 9, 2013 12:56 PM GMT
One paced effort from him, your initial thoughts are probably right,Jps one got a right quiet ride and is a winner soon.
