John Long has been a revelation this year.  His handling of Baresi has been very impressive including landing a monster gamble at Clonmel.  That was some performance today to train that winner after a 529 day absence.  A trainer who can deliver when he has the ammunition.

Big ask for a horse that up to now has only won a beginners chase.

He is in the novice Hurdle instead, think he was balloted out in the national.

The Baresu gamble in Clonmel was Ballingarry inspired and people assumed it was being trained there, could be he just decided to use his personal betting skills and contacts to back a neighbours horse.

In fairness there was no Ballingarry connection with that horse yesterday who has continued the good run of his hands-on connections this year.

With his rating he would not have been balloted out so any bet on Baresi ante post is a loser.

Agree Allduckornodinner but a nice little tickle just the same.

I'd say they were just happy to get him back to the track wmfb. He broke down in his last run in a p2p just as he was starting to look like a half progressive type relative to the grade and had already got his mark of 81. There's been a lot of miles of slow roadwork gone into him since then so it's nice to see them be rewarded. It was a yak race yesterday but if he is the same horse that won in Ballysteen he's easily a 110+ horse. Time will tell.

Not sure would there have been any anti-post on this Tolmi, the reason i thought he must have been balloted out(also trainers adamant oomments he was running in it) his rating over hur is 114,(no chase rating as only ran over them once).Willies girl lasr reserve on Sunday has a rating of 118.
