Inspection tomorrow at 8am track is raceable at the moment but we've been having some heavy showers and the sky looks black looking out towards the Atlantic, you can't even see the slopes of Benbulben or knocknarea but hopefully we get racing tomoz. But if traveling check if it's on lads.
OK OK we believe you,no need to keep trying to show your Sligo credentials. How come you hardly heard of Sligos most famous son and then when he was pointed out to you you misspelt his name on three separate occasions.

A good friend of mine spells it the other way and i simply got confused, school boy error though i do admit. Will you come racing tomorrow Wildman, it's student day i believe.

Last time I raced in Sligo was Derby day 1970,it was a long journey in those days a local horse was running,a mare called Alcymon think she finished second to Prairie Dog a horse who went on to better things and ran well in a Grand National.

Probably little has changed there to be fair Wildman, but it was a great day last year and the crowd was excellent over 3.5k iirc. You'd do Sligo racecourse in an hour and a half from Galway. Is there any other all chase days in Ireland out of interest?

Great memories lads, the track is still a glorified greyhound track, there was talk of moving it out to Standhill or Dublin side of the town but money was obviously an issue.

I think it is accepted that Killarney is the most picturesque racecourse probably in the world but Sligo has Benbulben in the background and is lovely on a fine day. Can't remember any all chase cards in Ireland although there are some in England generally Hunter Chase cards.

Went to Sligo maybe 8 or 9 years ago, 2 or 3 of us kittyed up and we backed the first five winners between us and threw the heap on the jolly in the bumper, got hammered.

i live about 300 metres from the track and it has been sheeting rain for the last 2 hours - course has been set up for racing. Gut feeling would be unlikely to race - shame as there is a lot of people planning to go.

I live Donegal side of Sligo and we've been having serious rain, i have to agree with SR gut feeling it won't go ahead. Sligo gets very soft down the bottom.
