Friend of mine decided last night to go to the game today with the kids and his wife, he's from up the North and from the other side of the community and has no contacts but i've been telling him for years he should go to a hurling game but said it would never be safe for him up North to go to one. So after a few calls last night i arranged for him to collect the tickets this morning off a buddy of mine in Dublin. Anyway long story short he came out feeling slightly short changed by their being no extra time, he said the kids we're really looking forward to seeing the McCarthy cup being presented and overall enjoyed it. These guys are ultra fit athletes why not get them to play another 10 minutes each side it makes it a 90 minute game the same as soccer matches. If still level then fair enough goes to a replay but i thought his comments were fair enough especially with the price we pay for tickets.

€80 is a very steep price for a ticket and it is not easier for the same supporters to come up with the cash a second time. It puts real pressure on a family where the children would obviously want a second trip to Croke Park. Draws a very very rare but ET should be the first step before a replay. |

Wildman you're from the middle of no where, why do you find it difficult to believe about simple things like owning a horse it's not that uncommon, yes i got a degree in sums no big thrill, i'm from Sligo everybody knows that, i like girls wow, i could go on about myself but i won't. As for my betting you have said in the past that my football bets i've posted here are easily the best on the forum or something close to that although your opinion means zero to me. The thing i find strangest about you is that you find it difficult to believe a person can own a horse? This is Ireland lots of people do, we love racing here.

Compared with the cost of taking yourself and your kids to a Man U match ( which a lot of those in south and north of our country do ) , the man concerned got great value today . Great match , biggest attendance wise event he will possibly ever be at in these isles , only thing to detract from the day was the absence of a result .
Equivalent of a 6 all draw today in soccer terms , would anyone complain about that ? Even non soccer supporters ? And unlike some occasions from the past , the draw was not contrived , it just happened . Reckon tickets for the replay will be easier to get , they normally are . Otherwise I will guarantee you he will watch the replay on TV . |

exiting Kelly, it went down to the wire, but has Kilkennys dominance become so enshrined that teams don't be assed to play the game but stop KIlkenny at all costs and if we benefit well all the better?

He's a proper football supporter to be fair Kelly, true blue Linfield man none of that Man U stuff for him. Very cool guy though and nice lad. Said he could never have done what he did today up there, he enjoyed it asked me was he a sell out as he said some of the Antrim lads he works with had no ticket on Friday afternoon and nothing would give him bigger joy than to take their tickets lol

Rocketfingers there are pony races in Donegal,you will find Never Give Up skulking around providing some dubious service for the cartel of bookies there with their price limits,Racecourse and dogs are out for him but it would be nice for you to move forward from the messaging stage.

Wildman why would i go pony racing in Donegal? When i can go to the Curragh, Leopardstown, Sandown, Aintree, Sligo, Balinrobe, Roscommon, Galway, Wolves, Chepstow, French provinces to name just a few of the course i've been at.

Even the Linfield supporters are not used to crowds these days Rocketfingers . Used to be 30 and 40 thousand at their games back in the old days , before the the Linfield crowd back in the late forties caused the riot which led to Belfast Celtic quitting the scene . Soccer died that day in the north effectively . Rubbish now .
And contrary to popular myth , Linfield did have RC players back then , 2 of them were known personally to me . One of them left Belfast Celtic to play for the Blues , they doubled his wages , Celtic were not particularly generous to their players . Think they took the view that it was a privilege to be wearing their shirt and defending the honour of the old country ( it was 30's and 40's Ireland back then ) . Unfortunatley the "unwelcome " stigma still exists in pockets here in the North . On the other side of the coin a friend of mine in the media was consistently greeted with adverse comments when he went to Windsor ( part of his job ) as he also occasionally reported on GAA and was obviously guaged to be "one of them " . Cuts both ways up here unfortunately , one of the most suspicious and inherently reticent ( nigh on unfriendly ) places in Northern Ireland is South Armagh . OK if they become acquainted with your kicking foot and it suits , but up to that ... You all have seen the Strongbow ad ! |
