The pairings for the Ladies finals due to to be played on the 30th are as follows; Armagh V Fermanagh, Louth V Antrim. If it was to be moved from headquarters, geographically speaking, Clones would be the obvious choice.

That's the groups done now, quarter final pairings for the SFC as far as I know are O'Mahonys/Simonstown, St Pats/Wolfe Tones, Don / Ash/Dunboyne and Summerhill/Seneschalstown.

Ballinlough let me down for an accum, thought they were great value. Trim were by far the better team.

if they progressed to the final i wouldnt rule it out,marty clarke came home a few years ago and got 2 goals in a league final for an riocht......the championship is a group basis in down this year....dont agree with it tbh but its generating more money 4 them..

Money, that's exactly it, groups were always the way down here with the championships. This year it's a bit of a farce no one will be relegated from senior because they want to have a even number of teams in the grade for next year. A couple of years ago there was a mess up no one got relegated. The same regime that called the shots back then are still in power!

Replays take on a different guise. I know this from Corks various trips to replays in the late 80's against Meath.

They are to be endured rather than enjoyed. I remember the Meath one (in 88 or 89 I think)
It was the strangest day, the deadest atmosphere I can ever recall as it was the following week to the final if memory serves and we were exhausted from the previous week.

Drove up on the Saturday and there was not a sinner on the road or in Dublin when we got there. No atmoshpere at all on the day and a drab game that Meath won.
However what I remember most of all was the Cold. It was the first Sunday in October and the weather was gone. It was dry but Winter had started.
I think that is what I remember most of all. It was so late in the year it didn't feel like an All Ireland at all.

Who needs to fly in from abroad for the match? Yanks and other "VIPs" who don't go to a GAA match from one end the year to the next but swan in for the 2 finals? Screw them.

There is no reason why the replay cannot be held next Sunday at HQ

1988 and I was at it.....It was 3 weeks after the drawn game, similar size crowd and the atmosphere was electric........It wasn't a drab game for sure, it was the 2nd Sunday and it wasn't cold at all...........I remember it well.

The Ladies Football finals have been put back by 7 days to facilitate the replay

db1974.........what's the rush........The soccer on Friday night will have most of the gardai on duty across the city.........lady gaga in the aviva the next night......another up for the match needs to be organised.........this is the joint biggest day in Irish sport not some 2 bit match.

Seriously though, the FA Cup replay used to be on 4-5 days after the drawn match, and this was back in the day when the FA Cup was the biggest English sporting occasion of the year. No credible reason why the 2 finals cannot be held next Sunday in Croker. The stadium will still be filled, the match will still be shown live on TV, no money will be lost.

Sure it will give a lad with a few knocks a chance to peak again. Comparing professional soccer to hurling is not really like with like.
These lads will be playing in their club championships next weekend and the weekend after.

Totally agree db, gant they should have played extra time, what difference does the size of the pitch make? In Soccer you're running non stop for 90 minutes, if they had played Extra time yesterday they would have 3 break as well and would have ran for 90 minutes. Both games you're on the move for 90 minutes.

The game should be replayed next week the players will want to get it out of the way as well.

You're contradicting yourself there Gant. On one hand you say the 3 weeks will give players a chance to peak again and on the other you're saying they will be playing club championship matches during the 3 weeks.

I would be very surprised if any player involved yesterday will be playing for his club over the next 3 weeks

I'll wager that say if a notional 5000 people flew in fropm abroad for the final weekend yesterday less than 10% will look to come back for the replay.

Maybe in 88 Gant can say the atmosphere was electric but my abiding memory is walking down Dorset Street and Jones road on our own. There was a good crowd there (Meath fans could have done both and Students back in Dublin bulked the attendance) but there was no atmosphere around the town

Not fading me at all........the 1st game was on the 18th September and the replay 9th October.....not a week apart as you stated.
Cork had a huge following on the day. Great atmosphere in the stadium........don't know much about the city as we headed home to greet the team.

You must have been very early or very late for the game to be on your own on jones road.
It was still bright in Croke Park whe big Joe lifted the cup........I stood on the pitch with the Meath fans and token students who made up the numbers that day.

Years later we were in Killarney for the weekend and camr back to Dublin via Millstreet so I could show my wife where I was born. She had the notion of me living in a huge house with extensions etc.. from my memory.
The reality when we pulled up outside is that it was a regular bungalow with a small front and back garden.

At 12 you were no really on the lash the night before, going to your vounties traditional watering holes on the day of the game nor stopping in them on the way home after.

You will note a more subdued atmosphere if you go to the hurling replay and tickets will be plentiful on the day.

guaranteed therl be a sell out on the 23rd..wed take any tickets left over down here in mayo..my club got 800 requests for 150 tickets..meant to be worse in donegal

lustrumm totally agree with ye i was at the football replay in 2000 when kerry beat galway in the only all ireland final ever to be played on a saturday coincidentally and the atmosphere was bland to say the least...it was more like a league final....even when kerry lifted the cup there was an anticlimax....
