great days racing saturday..im sweet on a couple ..but this will be tough

will have it to do to beat the obrian horse but i just think he may have a lot of improvement in him

shes owes me nothing won last twice for me and i think she,ll go in again
7.20 teak e/w
rare runner for ian williams who does not over place his horses...well worth a small e/w bet imo

nice piece tony , its going to be hard to get them out there tomorrow ....as you say smashing days racing ....for me its a day when having a look at them in the paddock can pay big dividends ..hoping to make it out , i disagree with a few on here re champion stakes ...i think its one of the most open in recent years and at least 3 horses could win it ...not the top class race it was in recent past ..but worth traveling to see imo....a horse i'll be having a good look at tomorrow is notable graduate , i know people in welds stable who were really big on this fellow last year..he might be worth a punt tomorrow....enjoy your day and happy punting....

glad you're such a big racegoer irish guy ....for a start the reason people like me go to the parade ring also known as the paddock , is so we might gain a little advantage over stay at home punters like yourself mate...is a horse acting up , showing signs of greeness , i.e. calling out to his fellows , is he been coltish , is he to keen , is she in season etc etc , not that i'd expect you to understand most of that , the fact you had to ask that question tells me all about you mate..whats lack of knee action , never heard that expression before maybe you'd care to enlighten me mate....?...reveley , the reasons i highlighted above is why i go watch them in the paddock ...another reason is to see if they've gone in their coat ..i.e. is their skin dull , not shining like it should , are they big , i.e. do they need the run etc......hope that helps a little reveley....

Fond memories of this meeting last year.
The snide comments of Irish Guy are typical of him and just plain wrong.Workrider has a great knowledge of horses and he like anyone with an interest in racing knows that watching a horse in the parade ring is essential for a race goer,some have a good eye others not I am afraid I would be in the latter category but when racing regularly one of our friends was brilliant at it,he was also a great judge of a beast,we took careful note of all his comments. The general opinion on the Champion Stakes is its a match and so do I but Workrider not unreasonably thinks it more open,what is wrong with that. Finally it is worth noting that Workrider is peering down on all of us from his lofty position as leader of the naps table,a long way clear of Irish Guy who interestingly gave no opinion in his sneering post. |

My two today are
5.10 Native Khan. I think we will see a different horse today with the better ground. Remember he finished 3rd in last years English Guineas and 5th the Epsom Derby when he didnt appear to stay on decent ground.His two runs for Oxx this season have been decent given the ground. 5.40 St.Nicholas Abbey. There was a general consensus on here that the King George was not not Joseph's finest hour yet he finished only 1 1/2 lengths behind Nathaniel after being last into the straight and having to come around the whole field. I am convinced this is a better horse on a left handed track and best on fast ground-so a lot in his favour. Gosden saying Nathaniel may not be at his peak and good and all as Snow Fairy is I am always wary of backing mares in top races against colts-the fact that she has never won a Group I against colts supports this. |

A top class card today at Leopardstown where the ground will surely be on the fast side of good.
3.40 We start off with a two year old maiden with Big Break a short priced favourite,she is worth taking on.She is an own sister to Famous Name so would prefer cut and whilst she missed the break and ran green at Galway that was a poor race,today there are dangers lurking everywhere,Gathering Power has solid form,Rehns Nest ran a blinder on debut at the Curragh but my selection is Shelina she started off in a conditions race where she finished third,the second Uleavemebreathless has won since. 4.10 Battle Of Marengo was got ready for Joseph when he ran at Leopardstown,that educational behind him he bolted in by 11 lengths at Gowran in the style of a good horse and should win,the only danger is Orgilgo Bay who has last run has been well advertised by the Andrew Oliver trained winner. 4.40 Another great Group 1 and very open,ground against last years winner Emulous and very much in favour of Alanza,the booking of Shane Foley for this filly is hugely significant and if he wins on her like I think he will get on Foley for the Aga Khan job for next year. 5.10 A three year old taking on older horses but Speaking Of Which looked a champion in the Curragh and Soon a Has franked the form. Red Mills Champion Stakes I think this is a match and favour Snow Fairy,don't like St Nicholas Abbey as I feel he needs Lasix 6.20 Wide open handicap where the draw will play its part,Flic Flac ran well on ground she hated at Leopardstown last time,she is now running on her favoured ground and drawn two,a nice each way bet. 6.50 A fascinating race and scene of a well remembered triumph last year,they are all represented,three from Oxx,two from OBrien and all good stables represented,a no bet race but one to sit back enjoy and learn. 7.20 The risible fifteen pounds the handicapper gave Call Me Bubbles for making a fool of him will not stop him but the ground might,he loves cut in ground and would be a certainty on that ground,he is still hurled in and at the price is worth taking a chance that he will handle the ground. Those of you that enjoy irony will notice that two of my selections are trained by that well known poor trainer. |

moneypenny i'm about 6 miles away from leop , as leop drains really well even after a bad days rain in winter ,add today's weather to yesterday and we've had two really fine days ..so i'm sure the ground will be a little against her ...i think it might even get a little firm ...its so good up here today i'm not even going to bring a coat with me....

Yes i know ground will be quick enough, what i dont get is why that is a negative. Most of her wins have come on good ground or better

smashing days racing , big crowd , lots of young people which is good to see , i even found myself watching the fashion show for a minute , well o.k. ten mins
.....went to the parade ring before the matron , i have to say i was not taken with chachamaidee ....she looked to me as if she might have had enough for the season ....but what a race she ran ...battled all the way to the line only to be denied by duntle ..i was fairly sure she would get the race for some reason...the champion was a cracking race , it turned out to be a real battle....having backed nathaniel i thought i was collecting with two to run ....but what a mare snow fairy is turning out to be ...a really thrilling race and a deserving winner ...a good day for irish racing.... |

It probably wasn't ideal that he got pushed back a couple of positions nearing the bend punchestown but in the end it didn't really matter. He got upsides the winner in plenty of time but couldn't get past him. He was already in receipt of 23lb's and I doubt another three would have been enough. If they went another furlong he still wouldn't have got by. Tough horse that winner.

Didn't look all that tough at Killarney 10 days previous now did it?, in fact it weakened so tamely it looked more like a ****cat than a lion, some transformation wasn't it duck?. How does the guy do it, he must have supernatural powers?, its the only way to explain it, maybe the stewards one day might ask him where he got his supernatural powers of transformation from?. |

I Have A Dream obviously likes Leopardstown and battled well,the run in Killarney is not as bad as you make out he led and was passed and often when you actually get past front runners they compound,in this case he was eased when beaten.
Call Me Bubbles ran a blinder but definitely prefers cut and is a certainty next time out with cut in the ground. |

Santry it just sickens me that such a powerful stable stoops so low so often, its not as if its a one off and the "they're not machines" excuse can have some credence, it happens so regulary to have become the norm, the media are like a moth to a flame when they bag another group one race, doling out the accolades almost sub-conciously, but when the likes of what happened yesterday with "I have a dream" they remain willfully subservient, in other words gutless and spineless.

Silver I ain't going to go round on circles with you again because it's pointless arguing with someone as blindly convicted as you but I will make one response since you asked.
He is a good ground horse that got away with it in a bike race in bellewstown and then ran poorly on unsuitable ground over too short a trip on too sharp a track. Horses can run poorly for no good reason and often won't handle particular types of ground. Look at the bumper winner in kilbeggan friday evening. Was sent off a short priced fav for what looked a winnable race on his previous run in mallow but couldn't handle the tacky ground despite being able to run well previously on proper winter ground. Came out then a few weeks later and showed his true colours on better ground. There must have been a thirty length turnaround with Wrong Way Corrigan but not a hint of skullduggery was involved. It's not hard to see where these runs come from but you are either unwilling or incapable to look any further than your nose. |

I might put forward the same defence duck, no point in arguing with someone as blindly convicted as you, because you seem to have an excuse for all these miraculous improvers, its not as if there has been just a few but effing scores of them every year.
What excuse would you give for Power's appalling run in this years English 2000 guineas?, considering a few weeks later he won the Irish equivalent?, apart from the obvious which was the horse was sent over with no intention of ever doing itself justice. Or maybe you might explain how the likes of multiple group one performers like Fame and Glory and SNA get beat in Mickey Mouse egg and spoon listed and group 3 races, races they should win hard on the bridle at just 80% fitness?. They're probably one of the most untrustworthy stables in Europe never mind Ireland you just can't back too many of their horses with any sort of degree of convidence because they go from the sublime to the ridiculous so often that its become laughable that so many are still willing to make excuses for them?, the blind defence usually has a sense of desperation about it. |
