It's a bit of a stretch to say that Anthony Tohill played for Man Utd
Going for a trial hardly constitutes playing for someone, as such
Plenty of GAA players would have played soccer for their local clubs in the winter

Tohill was never at Man U though richers, a good mate of mine was asked to stand in goals for a quality youth team in his area, he was not even a keeper. Anyway they played another decent outfit and on that day the side he was playing for won by a cricket score. There was a scout from Leicester there and he asked 4 or 5 of them down to a trial there, my mate was not much use but the guys in front of him were good and to his amazement he went with them. He was on trial at Leciester but you could never put him down as a Leicester playing like you can't put Tohill down.
Anyway Johnny Kenny and Ger Houlihan both played for Sligo Rovers, to be fair Kenny was more a footballer than a gaelic player but Sligo GAA stuck in the bad old days seemed reluctant to give him a game. Johnny Davey, David Kelly were with Rovers as young lads plenty of the other current Sligo team had trials but were no where near good enough to be signed. Stephen McAlourum up North i think plays for someone and was in the IL. Irish league is not as high as standard as the LOI and it's played in the winter so you get more of them there,Ryan Henderson at Linfield played for someone i'm nearly sure in GAA. Seamus Coleman played for Donegal underage before he choose to turn professional with Sligo Rovers.

Darren Sweetnam, promising Cork hurler is with the Munster U20 squad, also the 'Tullow Tank' Sean O'Brien played minor football for Carlow.
That's just off the top of my head. There is loads.

coleman used to have a number of battles during underage matches and trials with current donegal captain Michael murphy..murphy was well ahead of coleman though who was only an average young player at the time

He was a huge loss to Bellewstown Gant. Flanker Niall Ronan another Meath man represented the county at minor level.
We could be here all day naming them, what about the lads that went Down Under?

Cillian Sheridan, not sure what soccer club he's with now, played minor football for Cavan and club football for Bailieboro Shamrocks. He was actually offered trials with Brisbane Lions in Aus must have been very good.

Countless examples, Michael Donnellan- Galway United, Ja Fallon- Galwegians, Sean Armstrong- Shannon.
Don't know who that Down man is. Another Down man scored the first ever hat trick at Wembley.

That was a remarkable result, to hold Barca goaless at Nou Camp. Did you do the tour? Was only there for the tour I'd say to watch a game with a full house would be unreal.

Billy's book was my source, and I had only a swop.I gave my buddy Secretariat and he kindly gave me Billy Morgans book which I enjoyed.I sort of 4get the intimate detail but he went to Glasgow Celtic, for trials, and they seemed to like what they saw, but I think Billy got a job (teacher) and stayed in Ireland, but I think he may have played a few friendlies for Celtic, at that time. I'm pretty sure he played for Celtic in Cork also i.e. Cork Celtic........so did George Best, and Rodney Marsh..........
