Planned to make the trip up to this, will decide in the next half hour or so but not feeling the may west at the moment. Anyway in the 2nd race is interesting at a big price boxer beat 12/1, placed form is decent was having his second run back after a break the last time and now has a 10lb pull with Marlos moment, 4/1 w/o the fav as well.

Could any of the betting ring regulars offer any explanation why Daigreen was so weak in the betting? Was it just a case of lots of support for Brady's and Hurricane, or was there negative vibes about Daigreen too?
Report wildmanfromborneo August 29, 2012 10:13 AM BST
Startling admissions from Never Give Up but best left unsaid.
The connections of Daigreen landed an off course gamble when he won at the previous Ballinrobe meeting, backed from 20/1 into 4/1 in the morning then major drift on course out to 7/1 it is fair to assume the connections are betting shop punters so they might not have been there or just don't bet on course. The Joanna Morgan stable is not known for its gambles and would be considered too small for the professionals to have a mole.

Wonky i post under one name only.

I'm surprised someone of your years has this opinion. She is as shrewd a dual purpose handler as there is when it comes to landing a stroke and has landed countless punts over the years, especially with middle of the road flat horses. The only difference is that she pulls them off herself and doesn't need outside help.

Poor Stubby had a hard night last night.  Poor chap wont be able to sit for a week now.  Always give in did a right job on him by all accounts.
Report Bigwillystyle August 29, 2012 10:37 AM BST
Reading the rubbish she was coming out with last night about only backing it in a forecast with the second horse.  She is full of crap.  Ordinary trainer at best.
Report wildmanfromborneo August 29, 2012 10:40 AM BST
I agree entirely with the last post and although it may seem at odds with my earlier post it's not as it is a matter of degrees.
Joanna Morgan is a very good trained and has landed some touches but as Allduckornodinner says she does it herself so you never see the huge weight of money coming on from the regulars and as her gambles are infrequent she ducks under the radar.

The last post I was referring to was Allduckornodinner
Report workrider August 29, 2012 10:51 AM BST
i spoke to joanna awhile back , wildman she has a full stable , unlike a lot of others ..she gets smashing results from the range of horse she has .....i remember mick halfod telling me she always added a few thousend to the value of any horse she rode in the breeze ups....
Report Allduckornodinner August 29, 2012 10:57 AM BST
The winners have slowed down a little in the last two years but when she had the likes of Show Blessed, Dbest and Jawad winning multiple handicaps she was cleaning up. The placing of Raise Your Heart was top quality before he met his demise. It takes time to replace those good tough handicappers but i'm sure the prolific winners will start coming again in the next few seasons.
Report wildmanfromborneo August 29, 2012 11:01 AM BST
I am glad to hear that Workrider and not surprised, she is a right little trainer for a small owner.
Report bobbybocala August 29, 2012 11:39 AM BST
joanna is a great trainer......no doubt about it......she's about as good as her daughter is at riding......allduck.....the reason she no longer has raise your heart is of her own making......bigwilly is right......ordinary at best......

Typical they let Daigreen go off unbacked on track twice and he wins, punt the bejaysus out of him tonight in Killarney with the inevitable result.
Even when Rocketfingers attempts rhyming slang he gets it wrong, the rhyme for best is the American actress Mae West.
