Is it true he brought Katie Taylor, her father and Michael Ring to a pub in London after her win to celebrate (Supposedly she doesn't drink...)?

I've heard it was his sons pub.

Ring also made an ass of himself at the torch ceremony in Stephens Green. Seb Coe's face then reminded me of Michael Johnson's on having to listen to a week of Denise lewis. Ring's main hobby must be watching Fr Ted videos.

If that story is true, simply shocking. I hope it's an urban myth.

Not sure what to make of all this homecoming debacle, we do seem to be pi%% poor in organising some things. Not the first time with the IOC involved either. Is this a media inspired agenda to get a 'story' at any costs or should just have the IOC organised something in advance? I think they were scuppered as Wicklow had stolen a march on them to organise something for Taylor. That parochial thing again, towns wanting to hold an event rather than having a main event in Dublin. We do seem to continue to have this them and us issue between Dublin and the rest.

Jack Charlton forced the Irish team to eat in a chipper that he was part owner of,wrong but not a surprise.

Just thought we'd grown up a bit from all that, matured etc etc. How naive of me. Every time I leave here to go and work overseas for a few months/2-3 years, once, as long as 8 years, I get sold a line by the official media as to how things have progressed but then I see and hear things such as this (assuming it did happen). Nowhere in the world is perfect but at least this for the most part is one of the nicest and friendliest places to live, well, still is in my view. I have to agree with Roy Keane, we do seem to accept mediocrity and amateurish ways as the norm.
