Sydney was quite brilliant although for us its depth was difficult for us being in such a different time zone. After Athens and Beijing it was still Sydney for me and I first became properly aware of the Olympics, Mexico 68. These last two weeks surpass all I've seen before. I could be biased as I was in the Athletics stadium for a single night and the fact it was all on so close to home, same time zone etc, and it's fresh in the memory. I also like to dip into sports I don't usually get to see although I'm a big athletics and cycling fan - Handball is one example.

Lots of Irish support there as well and not just at the boxing either.

BBC coverage was brilliant, so much choice. I gave up after 2 days of RTE, too much chat, not enough live action. Did they just not bother knowing most of us would watch BBC? I'd have rather give 2 week of my expensive TV licence to the BBC after that than have RTE feck with it. Rant over.

You have to hand it to the Bits, i feel the whole of Ireland has doffed it's hat at Great Britain. The Chinesse may have the money but it this part of the world the one thing we can say we have is history and tradition and in London they have more than most.

Its easy to say that London was the best ever, its fresh in the memory, great games all the same.

If you look back on all the previous olympics each one will have a succession of superstars.

In the words of Sebastian Coe last night "We did it right".

Fair play to them.  Hell of a task to pull off an Olympics in a city like London.  They truly are a magnificent nation.
