I can get money down if i go into a shop, although no issues with spoils but i do believe i am marking their card and that's the only reason i can get on with them.

I don't bet many 1X2's but do you think he'd match the best price of a high street bookie? I live 10 miles approx from Sligo town, pain going in and out for a price.

Rocket was right in his first reply. Bookmakers don't partake any more. The original ethos of Stu the Jew when he set up Paddies has now come to pass.
"Little and often" was his mantra.

Why would a bookie now lay you 20 monkies each way when they can lay 50 bets of a tenner online at half the price.

The days of getting on in shops are gone forever now and anyone that bets seriously will tell you that.

Was chatting to a pro bookie/punter at Galway and when I asked him how his luck was he said "I can't win but I can't lose either as I can't get on and no one has money to have a bet"

The bookmaker has won the punting war in my opinion by taking away the ball. The days of winning 50 or 100K on an account or in cash are gone forever

i wouldnt nescessarily agree with you.go into a busy pp shop and you will get on up to a reasonble amount.and im no fan of pp.maybe you are thinking huge numbers but if you tried maybe monkey/grand at 6s ew or straight  you would have no prob..

The majority of can't get on merchants are normally spoofers......they are either broke or owe a fortune.
By:
Rocketfingers
When: 12 Aug 12 11:20
I would not agree with that gant, there is genuine hassle for punters getting money down at times. I'd hate to be at it with horse racing, sounds like absolute torture, football plenty of ways around it and if you know the right people you can get a serious wedge down even on one of the smaller leagues, like the one up North.
By:

When: 12 Aug 12 11:24
Saying that if you wanted to get a monkey down at say something like 6's i'm sure they'd let you on. Sometimes punters have to accept if you want to get more money down you have to take a lower price to get the money down.

rocket ring yer man and im sure he will look after you.i dunno about best price on oddschecker but not far off.

When: 12 Aug 12 11:37
To be fair kavvie i don't usually bet 1X2 but i will certainly keep him in mind when i do. Must make a note of his number, would be happy enough to even get some of Powers prices, but i'm sure he'll be wondering the obvious.

.....will you give it up you clown..you say you are this huge punter that has to bet with asian firms as you can't get on but now some independant will take this huge bets you claim to have?......i guarantee you have never had a bet over 50 euros....
By:
Rocketfingers
When: 12 Aug 12 11:56
Shaneboy i never ever claimed to be a 'huge' punter' to be fair, but there is obviously a big difference between both are definations of what is a 'huge punter'. In my mind i'm just small fry.

why don't you use pinnacle sports, they take anything past a 100,000 and give better odds than betfair, all the high rollers use them, pinnaclesports.com

Even Pinnacle are restricting bets these days though - they'll lay a bet on the "solid" markets ala Casino lines on the MLB/NFL/NBA etc. but on horses where the prices are all over the place you'd get a month and then the same treatment as the rest of them.
