where have you been rocketfingers? Basically on the one show on bbc1 a few weeks back he made a comment that the person who misspelt the word "olympic" for a tatto , must have been irish.

Another one of those storm in a teacup throwaway remarks that the Irish so love to feel offended by.
What is it about our nation these days?, the Telegraph said Katie Taylor was English and all hell broke loose, it was more than likely just a simple typo from somebody who hadn't the faintest clue about Womens boxing, lets be honest here, before the Olympics very few outside of Ireland ever heard of Katie Taylor or even knew of the existence of womens boxing.
An Aussie sports journalist made a reference to Ireland been stupid for not joining team GB, if you thought the outcry after Thompsons harmless joke and the Telegraphs typo error was a little OTT? not a patch on the reaction to this one, for a period I thought the IRA were going to re-commence hostilities.
Another throwaway harmless remark from a journalist who wouldn't have topped his class in Geography.

Cue apoligies all round of course, I dread to think what the reaction would've been if the judges had scored the Katie fight a draw and gave it to the Russian on a countback, Thierry Henry allover again but only 10 times worse.

Here is the latest article for poor little Ireland to be grossly offended by,

An Australian journalist has apologized for his article on Katie Taylor’s role in the Olympic Games. Irish readers found the article headlined, “Punch drunk: Ireland intoxicated as Taylor swings towards boxing gold,” offensive.

The Fairfax journalist, Peter Hanlon, began his article by saying, “Great Britain suffered a rare defeat on Monday, when rowdy support for the game efforts of a Liverpudlian female boxer was drowned out by a gathering of delirious, flag-waving Irish singing Fields Of Athenry. For centuries, Guinness and whiskey have sent the Irish off their heads. Now all it takes is a petite 26-year-old from Wicklow.”
