Mullins in the bumper......know a few people who are in syndicate.....fill yer boots lads.....
Report JayTrumpOldTomDubbl August 7, 2012 11:47 AM BST
Isn't this ridden by the 10lb claimer PW Mull the same guy that rode, or attempted to ride, Wrong Way Corrigan in the bumper at Cork last night ? and did his level best to come up the main Killarney/Mallow road running so wide that he lost 22lengths and was narrowly beaten, and not one word on this forum about such a shocking ride, and imho shows how bad this forum has gone
Report Sligored August 7, 2012 1:01 PM BST
Reine Angevine 8.45 not very original i know
Report kavvie August 7, 2012 1:24 PM BST
jay trump i fear you are pocket talking big time.he didnt lose 2 lengths never mind 22 up the straight.he kept wide for the better ground and just failed to bt a horse who was 22/1.id be the first to agree if a jockey fcuks up but on this occasion your plain wrong
Report richters August 7, 2012 1:43 PM BST
kavvie im afraid i have to agreew ith jay trump here...he lost at least 10 lengths taking the horse up the stand side imo....should of been an easy winner of thast race.
Report ChildOfMine2 August 7, 2012 2:00 PM BST
I completely disagree lads. The horse is renowned to find very little off the bridle and that was the case again last night. BTW, quite a few winners won on the stands sidde at Cork so that made little or no difference.
Report kavvie August 7, 2012 2:06 PM BST
jp o brien was lauded for going wide on a horse(imperial monarch?) earlier in the year.no diff here.lots of the winners last nite came that route.pw mullins has rode enough winners to know what he was at.
Report ChildOfMine2 August 7, 2012 2:16 PM BST
I'd have to say also that Patrick is probably riding at his very besy right now. He showed that at Galway last week. In fact, I'd go as far as to say he's riding better than Ruby at the moment!
Report pa lapsy August 7, 2012 2:23 PM BST
Thought he was near enough turning in,he was a bit unlucky the winner kept finding, WWC head carriage in the last 2 furlongs said to me he wasn,t helping PW at all.
Report JayTrumpOldTomDubbl August 7, 2012 2:39 PM BST
Had no bet on last nights bumper in Cork. I stand by my comments, that was a shocking appalling effort by the rider and he is so one dimensional that its gone way way past a joke. He can steer all the winners he wants but I wont ever bet him. And if anyone on here thinks for a moment that he is riding as good as the greatRuby well of course Ruby does have a broken ankleWinkso .......Laugh
What actually brought my attention to the race was that one of the better tipsters put up Wrong Way Corrigan for a 5pt bet inda competition and I feel he was robbed of a win.
Just remember the winner cut the bend, and the runner up was absolutely cruizing as he was brought out towards the main road........
Report ChildOfMine2 August 7, 2012 2:42 PM BST
Jay, it's not a coincidence that Wrong Way Corrigan hasn't won in FOUR bumpers now. That says it all!
Report dj876 August 7, 2012 2:43 PM BST
I think Patrick has improved a lot ,is definitely riding better than he has ever before,as for Ruby he gave 2 horses at Galway at best moderate rides at Galway last week.......Zuzka and Letherbelucky(tho her jumping didn't help).Ruby said before the race there wouldn't be much pace on yet held her up at Galway.
Report ChildOfMine2 August 7, 2012 2:51 PM BST
And considering he knew she has stamina in abundance, it was a shocking ride. He nearly killed Zuzka at the final flight as well after taking a pull turning for home.
Report tony57 August 7, 2012 4:13 PM BST
i have to agree with jay i thought pat mullins gave the horse too much to do (i am talking threw my pocket) but its my opinion..i know he went for better ground and i take pa,s point wwc head carriage did look bad..but imo by taking the route he did he lost at least 5-6 lenths which would have made the differance..i also agree wwc has not won 4 bumpers but the reason i backed him yesterday was imo it was the weakest race he had run in..its all about opinions..i have to admit patrick has been riding well lately but yesterday imo was not one of them...

Tony are you involved in the Supreme RC ? Im thinking of looking into some shares as its seems a well run operation.

A few to lay/laid tonight.

Race 1) Top Man Michael 2.08 Was 1.87 when I last looked and has probably dotted up. I will check it after this write up.

Race 2) Enchanted Forest 3.35 Geraghty an unusual booking for Hourigan.

Race 3) Highdownhill 8.6 A terrible long way out to get a jolly.

Race 4) Rockshandy 3.05 Well backed into 7/4 but I don't like backing short prices in a Beginners Chase when they fell LTO.

Race 5) Stonesinmypocket 4 Unusual for a Roche horse to be backed before racing to show their hand. Now under 5/2.

Race 6) Markey Cee 4 Always dangerous backing a 7 lb claimer at short prices in a chase.

Race 7) Reine Angevine 2.04 I am against you Tony. Best punted race of the day.

A few observations on earlier comments.

I was down in Mallow yesterday.

The last winner was backed in from 25/1 to 22/1. A few bob at those prices will pay a few bills. This horse was given a very canny ride by cr ack amateur Mikey O'Connor. If you remember in the hurdle races the hurdles had something on the inside of them that made them jump them all a few yards further away from the rail. When they were taken down for the bumper it meant there was a nice strip of ground that hadn't been used all day beside the rails. If you watch the race again you will see that Mikey never left the rail the whole way round which was the winning of the race rather than Patrick losing it.

As for knocking Ruby when he is down it is not very nice. The hurdles used in Galway are very unforgiving as compared to ones used at most of the metropolitan tracks. There are trainers that don't like running their horses at these tracks. What often happens is that when a horse trails his back legs at the hurdle the horse will almost come to a standstill and will lose balance and fall. Often these horses pull muscles and can be out for up to twelve months. This is what could have happened Drive Time in Galway.
