Armagh '02
Tyrone '03, '05, '08
Down '10
Donegal '12

They cant handle when teams get in their faces, ulster rules the roast in club and county football

They might win one every 10 years.

a very good and valid point philthepower,i raised this issue in a nother thread recently..put kerry into ulster or indeed into an open draw and there wouldnt be as frequent all ireland wins imo....another point raised by joe brolly has also been validated by colm coopers no show at croke park yestreday...

Joe Brolly has been proven pretty much spot on in his views.

out of the weaker counties kerry only beat antrim by a point in the qualifiers a couple of years ago and monaghan by 2 points in the qualifiers also....when you look at the teams they beat to win all irelands Mayo twice and a young inexperienced cork.....full of their own hype imo....

Dont get me wrong, they have super footballers, Cooper, O sullivan, o shea and Galvin are all brilliant.

But they cant cope against the intense tackling game, the amount of times Donegal turned them over by swarming them was incredible, i thought it was 2003 and they had Tyrone jerseys on.

Interesting to be looking at this now at the point when both Kerry and Ulster football are in decline and short term recovery looks unlikely.

It has been a very good Kerry side but the next generation are not there and their results at underage over the past 7-8 years has been disappointing.

Ulster is in a terrible state and at its worst level since before Down made the breakthrough in 91.

The underage teams are all gone this year which is a disaster given their success at this level.

Donegal are managed by a genius and it's an amazing achievement to turn the side round in such a short space of time.

Tyrone have not converted any of the good minor sides or U21 sides since the 98 crop into the next generation of All Ireland winners. A lot of the blame may well rest with Harte who has been far too loyal to come players that have dropped of badly in the past 4 years.

Derry are a mess, despite some very promising under age squads between 2006-2010.

Down nearly stole an All Ireland but look a shambles at the moment.

Armagh have loads of work to do to become a contender again with only one minor side winning recently and most of them not making the next step.

Monaghan and Fermanagh will not figure in the next 5 years and Monaghan are in a period of serious regression.

Antrim are performing the same as normal and will win the odd match but no more.

Cavan look to be the only county outside of Donegal where progress is being made but they are starting from a very low base.

Depends on the Kerry team .  The near 5 in a row team would have won the Ulster title without breaking sweat , as Ulster football was in relative doldrums from seventies to mid eighties .

How the Kerry team that has graced the field in the last 10 years would have fared against teams like Armagh and Tyrone ( and now Donegal ) is open to question .

Kerry's big advantage was that to win an All - Ireland they only had to win 3 matches , viz Cork plus two .  That meant you only had to peak 3 times instead of 5 times for most other counties .

The recent Kerry team has won their share of All-Irelands  , somtimes playing ( and having to play ) stellar football . However they occasionally displayed unusual fragility , going to sleep in matches and allowing inferior skilled teams back into the race . Most of the best teams ( in all sports ) that I have seen over the years put their foot on your neck and kept it there for the full match .

Ulster teams have put the provinces football back on the map big style , beginning in 1991 with an excellent and talented Down team , folowed by Donegal and Derry  and then Down again , and over a 5 year period then Kerry were not seen  , rebuilding as is the nature of things , and Ulster ruled the roost .  Armagh and Tyrone then took up the Ulster baton , and now Donegal ( jury still out on them pending later in August , but they have looked good so far this championship ).  No other province has produced such a variety of teams and football styles over the last 20 years .  Some good , some not so .

Kerry have adapted their natural football style of recent times , I have no doubt they would still prefer to be playing non basketball style football , but until they change the hand pass carp they are stuck with it , like the rest of us .

Apart from Tyrone, Ulsters record is poor enough in the All Ireland series.

Squigs , overall Ulsters record is better since thay introduced the back door system . Down and Cavan do have a few more than most counties in Ireland .  And more than Tyrone .
