Think kildare may have timed their run well for this one.Been getting better with each game after the meath defeat.Cork have got to be rusty having not had a serious game in over 2 months.5/2 good value here.
Donegal have been the most impressive team in the championship so far, seem far less negative than last year and a lot easier on the eye, though think they may revert to type in this game.Kerry are on their last legs for me,galvin a huge loss. Will they have the same desire as donegal is the massive question.I was amazed to see kerry go off jollys for this one.I could be way off the mark, but donegal @6/4 is the bet of the summer.GL all!
No idea what to think of Kildare, saw them last weekend and thought they were very ordinary and not a lot of football in them. Most teams in Ireland would have beaten Sligo last weekend.

Kildare have been very inconsistent, thumped Cavan and Sligo but were only seconds from exiting against Limerick inbetween.
Been from Kildare I'm not going to let my heart rule my head, I think Cork will be just too physical for them especially around the middle but if they go down they'll certainly go down fighting, a good start from Kildare could change all that considering Cork have been idle for a while and maybe get Cork thinking?, from a Kildare perspective I'm hoping for a victory but not in the least bit confident unlike some of my more optimistic brethren.
Donegal's Ulster final victory over Down was hardly advertised on Neon Lights yesterday now was it?, Mayo making mince meat of a very poor Down team, and to be honest Mayo have hardly been setting the world alight themselves, can't see beyond a comfortable Kerry victory, but maybe if we get heavy downpours it could suit Donegal, could turn into a war of attrition?.

I was very anti Donegal last year but i have been very impressed with them this year. They have some very good players. Not sure of his name but they have a half back who is one of the best defenders i have seen in a while. I think they will run Kerry off their feet.

Who have Donegal beaten? struggled to topple Tyrone whom kerry were far superior, were given a game by Down who couldnt kick it out of there way yesterday.
The clincher for me was Donaghys perfaormance the last day, if he wins ball like that again inside, gouch will have a field day off him.
This mantra from spillane about milage and kerry being past it has been peddled out so many times at this stage as to be quite boring.....and every time Kerry prove it wrong.
Kerry for me.

I was not thinking of Karl Lacey. He is the other wing back. Shoulders like Popeye.
I would agree Donegals wins over Tyrone and Down is not a good line of form but they dont strike me as a team who will blow teams away in ten minutes. They are totally relentless in keeping up a high tempo. They dont seem to be able to up a tempo like some teams but the tempo and work rate that they play with will wear other teams down.

I think Donegal will beat Kerry, 6/4 general and 13/8 in places is a great price. I would have had it 10/11 Kerry v 11/10 Donegal at worst. Kerry beat a Tyrone team on their knees and could have been caught out against Westmeath. Donegal don't give away easy scores while I don't believe the same to be true about this current Kerry team.
Kildare don't start games well and if you can't build a lead against a team who haven't played for 8 weeks you are going to struggle relying on your fitness against a team who are fresher.
Cork have the much stronger full forward line and this should see them home against Kildare.

Yes i think thats the player i was talking about. Donegal might not win pretty but they are a far better team than last year and have added a lot more attacking threat. They break out very fast. Down and Tyrone are no great shakes but there was a similar theme in both those games. Donegal forced both of them into hitting the equvalent of the marathon wall.

Cork easily dispose off Kildare in the second half. Very good performance. I expect McGeeney to leave now, he brought them as far as he could. The class footballer won out today.

Expect Donegal to apply the squeeze in the second half. You would think the way Donegal play they would tire at some stage but they have shown they can keep the same pace up for the whole 70.

Same as every match Donegal have played this year. They have run the opposition out on their feet. They look like they could keep this pace up for another 70 minutes.

What a finish. The Donegal machine rumbles on :-) When Donaghy got the goal I thought Marty Duffy would play for the draw. Winning your province says alot, the second year running all the semi-finalists are made up of the four provinical winners.

paddletoe 05 Aug 12 17:29 Terrible umpire decision gives Kerry a lifeline. That decision was a shocker. As clear cut a square ball as you will see. HAVE TO AGREE IT WAS A SQ BALL

It will be interesting to see the semi final odds. I think Donegal have improved a lot this year and i fancied them strongly to beat Tyrone and Kerry. But the match up in those two games suited Donegal as i always thought they would have a big edge in fitness and workrate and Kerry and especially Tyrone are on the way into decline.
Cork have better players than Kerry or Tyrone in terms of skill, pace and age balance and have the potential to get the quick scores to get away from Donegal before they try and strange them.

I'm with goalhanger on this one, watching Donegal is indeed wrist slitting stuff, strangulation football at its worst, it couldn't have worked out better for them a poxy goal that went straight in from a sideline ball and a point straight after, a 4 point lead just what the doctor ordered from a Donegal point of view, cue strangle the living daylights out of the game, football fans knew there and then they were in for a turgid viewing experience.
From a Kildare perspective what happened I hoped wouldn't happen but suspected it might, a few substitutions and a little bit of fine tuning from the Cork mentors and class outed, you can be as fit as triathlon athlete but their is no substitute for class, sadly Kildare are lacking in that department, some of their better players like Doyle and Kavanagh look shadows of their former selves, Alan Smyth in fairness was a constant threat and got some fine scores when the ball was actually delivered properly, using tennis terminology, the amount of unforced errors from Kildare was simply shocking, especially the low balls into their forwards, Cork turned those balls over time and time again which usually led to a Cork score at the other end.
I'm praying Cork stuff Donegal if only for the sake of football!.
If I was a manager and Donegal were parking the bus defending a lead, I'd bring my midfield, halfback and fullback line right up among the massed Donegal defence, it might turn into something resembling a game of Rugby union, but at least you won't have a 3 against one situation which happened numerous times yesterday, Kerry players constantly surrounded, unable to get away a pass through lack of support.

McGeaney I reckon will go........He can't take Kildare any further and it's the same every year they come up short.........a well drilled last 8 team.....no more no less.

Would rather be on mayo @2/1 than donegal @6/4.Think mayo are a value bet, dubs not showing much this year yet, while i like the team work mayo are putting together.Allen dillon playing great stuff this year and aidan o shea vital cog for winning ball.If the brogans have an off day mayo will take stopping.
Cork have looked the best squad for the last 5 years,so to have just one all ireland would be a poor return.Think they will have too much in the forward line for donegal. No goalscorer will be my bet when the time comes!

Agree that Mayo are serious odds at 2/1. I predicted Down to beat them but they upped another gear on Saturday and ran riot, the game was effectively over before half time. Dublin in a packed Croke Park is a big test for them, without key player Moran also. Alan Brogan was sorely missed against Laois, also brother Bernard looks to be lacking in confidence, he is a shadow of the player we seen in previous years. The Connacht champions represent great value.
Donegal will be a tough nut to crack for Cork. Their forwards wont get the freedom they were given against Kidare, Donegal ultra-defense will be frustrating for them. Although Cork's fire power and physical presence will be too much for the Ulster champions, 19 year old Paddy McBrearty and Mark McHugh, who most have covered every blade of grass yesterday wont be given an inch against half backs like O'Leary and Kissane. Donegal seem to be over reliant on Colm McFadden for scores, take out his contribution yesterday and they would have only scored 0-7. Conor Counihan will set out to man mark him, have Donegal anyone to step up to the plate if he goes missing? Whereas Cork dont depend on one or two for scores, they have six scoring forwards aswell as the best bench in the country.
It's Cork's All Ireland to lose.
