We are in desperate straits if this emotional bullying is allowed to rampage on unchecked.
The latest farce is where Ted Walsh mentioned the word 'suicidal' in a post-race spiel and a guy from whose son committed suicide nearly 3 years ago phoned RTE to complain ( asked to put it in writing and did so).
He stated he felt 'utter revulsion ...
that 'every parent ,sibling and friend of a suicide victim would take offence' and that this represented a 'trivialisation' of suicide.

Frankly I would find this incredible if I had not already seen the inexorable advance of PC over the last twenty or thirty years. As I could have predicted -the more society yields  -the more the PC lobby are emboldened and ratchet up their increasingly outrageous demands.
It is absurd to claim unilaterally that every one connected to a suicidee will be offended -how in hell could one know ?
So now we must all fashion even our rapid speech to take account of the most sensitive person that can be found anywhere -that's just lunacy.
How can this individual claim that Ted Walsh was somehow 'trivialising' suicide. I never met anyone who attempted to trivialise any normal death - let alone suicide. (By the standards applied by this protester that could be construed as an insult to Ted Walsh.)
RTE and TED were totally wrong to apologise -RTE probably running scared of its shadow since the recent shenanigans.

Excellent post Vubiant, summed it up just perfect the absurdity of it all.

Teds remark and the use of the word suicidal was just a way of pressing home a point.

Closest friend I ever had committed suicide in Feb... agree with OP, it's just a word used in a different context, people affected by these things need to realize it
