Meant to post something during the week but never got a chance..
First time since 2001 Meath and Dublin have been the Leinster final pairing!
After a turbulent league campaign altogether, demotion to Division 3, County Board wanting rid of Banty etc. very few people expected Meath to overcome Kildare and get this far!
The All-Ireland champions Dublin will want to put their demolishing at the hands of the Royals in 2010 right, if anything that 11 point drubbing two years ago was a major driving force towards All-Ireland glory last season.
Hats go off to Banty the whole world seemed to be against him a few months ago now he has surely secured his position as Meath manager?
I hope Meath can produce another massive performance, it's a big occasion for our youngsters Forde, Carroll, Keogan etc. but they are well up to it. The future is bright. It wont be the end of the world if we are beat tomorrow, we have Leitrim/Laois to regroup, although I would be weary of Laois, they are quietly going about their business, winning games ugly but gaining momentum at the same time.
Roll on tomorrow. I'm confident of a Meath victory but I'm predictiing a draw - 1-15 1-15.
Anybody headin' to Croker? Breakfast in the Kylemore, few pints on the way down to settle the stomach and then get in early for the minor game.
Best of luck to the Dubs aswell, best supporters in the game
Named teams for tomorrow, I would not pay any heed to the Dublin selection, MaCauley in at full forward??? Not a chance. Dont get me wrong I think Macauley will play, but operate at midfield, meaning either Fennell or Bastick wont start. Rumours going around though that Ciaran Kilkenny will be picked at full forward, what a game to make your SFC debut.
Meath make two changes from the Kildare match, Cian Ward makes way for Stephen Bray while Ciaran Lenihan is replaced by Kevin Reilly. Reilly goes in at full back and Menton (who did a tremendous job on the square against the Lillies) is pushed out to left half back. I dont expect Menton to play wing back I'd say he will pick up Kilkenny or O'Gara who I reckon will be starting. Reilly will keeps tabs on Brogan.
DUBLIN S Cluxton; M Fitzsimons, R O'Carroll, P McMahon; J McCarthy, K Nolan, C O'Sullivan; E Fennell, D Bastick; P Flynn, A Brogan, B Cullen; B Brogan, MD Macauley, K McManamon.
MEATH D Gallagher; D Keogan, K Reilly, M Burke; D Tobin, S McAnarney, B Menton; C Gillespie, B Meade; A Forde, D Carroll, G Reilly; B Farrell, J Sheridan, S Bray.

the dubs best policy here is to go for the kill early, the last thing they need is a dog fight going into the last 10 mins,it could come down to place balls.personally i think o gara will start.looking forward to it,hill 16 beacons

It should be a cracker........The real Leinster final.......Great supporters the Dubs but tomorrow they all seem to be looking for lifts to Dublin.......they are confident.

Dubs should have little problem with this Meath team provided they do not allow them to stay in touch. Have them chasing the game from an early stage and with a volitile manager on the line the floodgates could open.

True Gant. I'm thinking about parking the car in Dunboyne and getting the train in, there does be two Dubs for every one of Meath waiting around there! You going up?
I dont rate OGara, if he does start that would suit Menton down to the ground (presuming the Ashbourne man picks him up). The one Dublin forward I'm worried about is McMenamin. We need to take our chances, hopefully Farrell, Bray and Sheridan can turn on the heat and cause Dublin problems, on their day they are amongst the best forwards in the country, no questioning that. If they dont perform we will be blowin out of the water.
Any opinions on the minor game? Bookies saying that Dublin will win with a bit to spare.

Dunboyne seems to be the spot......park the car and get the train.......Johnstown in Navan I hear is full of blue....no surprises there. If we can stay with the Dubs as Santry pointed out the auld Dublin nerves might go. That's a decent Meath Minor team........a few strong lads on it.

Looking for a pub/bar in Budapest showing this, but none of the super sportscafe have even heard of the GAA
I bumped into one of the head GAA honchos before i left and he was saying they expect a full house and will be disappointed with anything else now that Euro 2012 is over.

Who mentioned Loi? I can only speak for my own team and place where it's very popular and football is the number 1 sport. Do any GAA clubs get 2.5k avg home gate Gant?

2300 GAA clubs in Ireland compared to 10 loi premier division clubs........I think we punch well above our weight........You lads have a nice catchment area to be fair no clubs for 50/60 odd miles around you.

Ya it's 11 in one division, 2,300 and and not one of them get more than the worst LOI club at a game. Come back to me when any GAA in the country get as much as my football club, then we'll speak

8 or 9 loi premier division clubs get between 300 and 1200 at home games........a junior football match in Meath would get in that bracket.......Gary Rogers could vouch for me he was a junior footballer.

26 county teams = International soccer team 2300 club teams = 11 loi premier division some semi professional teams. ? = Soccer club teams.
Enough said........Don't want to make a show of you on the Leinster final thread.....the big sport threads always get busy.

Ha Johnstown aswell. Ashbourne too, was around the backroads up in Ashbourne as if you were heading to the Rugby pitch and the estate up the road from it is plastered with Dublin flags.
Dublin won well when the sides met in the league earlier in the year, I know you cant read much into this. Minor is curious, you dunno what you get or expect with young lads at that level.
We do have a strong team Gant from what I'm hearing. Read a good piece yesterday about both teams. 17 year old Michael Deegan is on the Dublin minor football panel, he plays his club football for Donaghmore/Ashbourne. I asked myself how does this work out? The way I thought it worked you can play for YOUR own county and a club elsewhere like the other way around.
Maybe he qualifies for this through parents origin? His father was the great Mick Deegan who played for Dublin.
Incidentally, I seen Michael play last year in an inter-county U-16 tournament in Oldcastle and he caught my eye scoring for fun, that day he was up against his club mates who are also his school mates. Its a good one.
Anyway, win or lose tomorrow the minors progress to a quarter-final. Of course it would be nice to win a Leinster MFC but it's not all about winning at that level. Big day for the Wards and Gillespies, Cian Wards brother Fiachra is corner forward tomorrow and Conor Gillespie also has a brother on the minor panel.
Anybody from your end on the panel gant. Not one from North Meath!

Thefly10.........Very unusual no North Meath lads..........we have a few for a change........Good honest lads. All we can ask for is 2 good performances.........no point blaming a manager if the lads on the field can't perform.........Mick Deegan was a good player.

Kavvie.......forgive Rockeffingers he loses the run of himself........He logged on in Budapest just to have a go......yeah right.........He spent 3 weeks in Peurto Banus logging on every night spouting the same cr*p.......you can't log on in spain as far as I know.........Is Peurto Banus a new bar in Tallaght.......maybe. The SRFC ultras forum has his head melted with the anti GAA section.

o gara is as strong as bull, the likes of o reilly or menton is right up his street, because they will try to play him like that, plus he is very mobile,i dont rate mcmenamin, head down and dense imo ,a bit of craft up front is going to be required after mixing it

No chance of anyone laying dublin -3.5pts, 10/11 in the bookies worse odds by 7 points on here, and they say betfair always have better prices, my eye they do.

Well done Dublin. By far the better side. Tbh we were lucky enough to be within two points of them before they hammered home the 2 goals. The second half was much better, we were more aggressive, started to pick up breaks and keep possession though you could say the Dubs sat back abit. Much more efficient team from the word go. However, it's not the end of the world for Meath, Laois next weekend in Tullamore, as I said above you cant underestimate them. The six day turnaround has to be looked at, them four round 4 qualifier games should be scheduled for Aug Bank Hol instead.
Roll on this weekend, its heating up!
