Tony if the ground is not heavy there tonight I reckon they must have a very big brolly down there in Tipp. Forecast for down south is diabolical. I reckon its pizzing everywhere.

The ground should be well opened up by the Bumper which will probably go against Summer Star this evening.

I like Ruby in the first, on Drive on, but the ground is the big worry, think he prefers it good/ish.....well fancied i'm told what does everyone think bet or not on the ground.............?

Summer Star won his first bumper in a hack on soft to heavy ground in Limerick and although she is flat bred she seems to handle it.

That his should be a her.

Indeed it did wildman but ran like a drain on it lto,I'd expect young Mullins to make it a test of stamina to draw the sting out of Summer Star.

The Punchestown run was in the Championship bumper and wasn`t that bad considering.

you could have a good point about mullins making it a test ..punchy,..if the ground is heavy then i,d be worried..but she is decent..and ive made my bed..

tony: if you find your way on to twitter you will find regular updates on ground conditions for Irish racing on the day. @aidan(underscore)m and @TheIrishField usually tweet updates.

thanks for that royal...much appreciated..and just like to say again how good your flat stuff is..(great read)

pelting down, should suit Whispering Hills, going to back him

A few to lay tonight.
Race 2) Whispering Hills 2.96 Short enough considering the opposition. Race 3) Sober Sailor 3.74 Ruby is on his way despite touching 14 in running in the first race. Race 4) Shot From the Hip 3.35. Had to chase this one out from 2/1 to get matched. Race 5) Catcherinscratcher 4.29 Davy Russell has a good agent as he seems to be mopping up extra spares with Andrew Lynch on the sidelines. Race 6) Rudi Trucker 3.7 I haven't heard that Pat Mangan is on the sidelines but maybe he is, missing another ride for his old man. Race 7) Glens Melody 1.9 Looks like a cakewalk but mares are capable of surprising connections. |

Having a cut with the Culloty horse here, he jumps really well when he's right, might be hard to peg back
|
|
By:
never backed shot from the hip..but what a disappointing horse..looks to have a engine but wont put it all in..or is very ground dependent..not sure which?

Thanks Punchestown, this is why i like this forum there is loads you can pick up.I like when the information is laid out in front of you,i prefer it to the bland tipping of horses.
I thought the bumper was a match and was favouring Summer Star, read Punchestowns excellent contribution made me rethink as it happened he was absolutely right and luckily i listened and so had no bet. Great start for JayTrump with decent priced winner, hope you and Punchestown won plenty. |

Thanks wildman,,have to say I thought Patrick was going to make it in the bumper but he must have been happy enough with the pace to stay handy,I would definitely give Summer Star another chance on a better surface.
JayTrump,Ruby was brilliant on your winner w/d, I wouldn't be a huge bettor myself so I never win or lose too much ![]() |
