Robbie Keane's equaliser in stoppage time against the Germans in 2002.
Long punt up field, superb flick on from the legend that is Niall Quinn and a nice finish from Robbie. Gives me goosebumps just watching the video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AFQOoSUbnBs |

Great shout Dan.
That was some finish as well by Robbie. Germany went onto the final in that one as well against Brazil. |

^^^^Our whole school watched that game, 1500 people went bonkers, probably my bets memory also.
A neighbour use to record all the game from the 80's and early 90's on video tape. I use to spend hours as a kid watching them in the late 90's and looking back on it, the poor quality of the tape made it even better in some strange way. ![]() |

Jesus i feel like an old man lads.
![]() I watched that match in the pub with my work colleagues as our boss let us off for the afternoon to see the game. Just the manner of Keane's last gasp goal made it feel like a victory. |

My best memory does not involve the Irish football team directly although it concerns them, it was Gary Mackay's goal for Scotland v Bulgaria in Sofia in 1987, unreal moment, simply unreal.
Ireland v England in 88, Lawrenson v Scotland in 87', Quinn v England in 91' Jason Mc's v the Dutch in 2001 and Keane' goal v Germany in 2002. If i had to pick one Houghton v England in 88' |

World Cup quarter final in Italia 90 when we lost 1-0 to Italy. Paul McGrath was fantastic. I remember many of the Italian team shaking his hand at the end of the game.

If I allowed a second pick I would say when the national anthem was played at Euro 88 before our first match, the game where we beat England 1-0. We should have lost 1-4 but Bonner blocked a few certainties.

When Alan Mc Loughlin equalised late on and shut the Windsor biggots up, and we qualified for America 94. I never forget Neil Diamonds coming to America being played that night. It brought the emotions out in me that night.

for me it was many years ago 1966/77 ireland 1 spain 0...as a child i managed to make my way to dalymount for one of our most important european games of its time ....arrived early and got a spot right behind the goal....ireland got a free kick which frank o 'neill took ...as the ball came over noel cantwell made a run and the startled spanish keeper iribar threw the ball into the spanish net...dalymount went mad ...i wore the paper hat for the next few days i was so proud ....that in a nutshell is my fav moment watching the irish team...i watched the game on t.v. the other night fantastic memories....

Can't forget Scotland's 1-0 win in Bulgaria in 1987 which set the ball rolling for Ireland.
At Euro 88 we won a game we should have lost (England), drew a game we should have won (Soviet Union), and lost a game we should have drawn (Holland). That's Football ! |
