give me all your faces to heaven all you want? Aiden O'Brien will still be a nut case, you know he actually gives out cd's to all his staff some poem desdirata or something or other with music in the background?.

Effing fruit cake who can't except the fact he's only an effing horse trainer?.

His unfortunate children going around with dark shades on, suit and tie and maybe cromby jacket if its cold?, is that the type of father you want to grow up with.

Oh and whatever you do make sure you don the pioneer badge?

I agree with Ruby.

You don't need to like the man or the Coolmore operation, Greaseball. But coming on here spouting this nonsense about his children is bang out of order.
Report Newmanix June 3, 2012 11:43 AM BST
the kids seem pretty happy to me.
Report wildmanfromborneo June 3, 2012 12:59 PM BST
Maybe its because i am older but i think his children are a credit to him and his wife, they are united polite and stick together.Aiden O`Brien is humble as is Joseph compare the quiet dignified way he celebrated his magnificent success with the way Mickael Barzalona did twelve months previous.
They seem a delightful family to me and one this country is rightfully proud of.
Report paddywhacker1970 June 3, 2012 2:07 PM BST
I agree with Wildman. If all the kids in the country were raised to be as humble and respectful as the O'Brien crew, we wouldn't have so many ****** roaming the streets drunk as lords or mugging pensioners.

Reading the last 3 paragraphs of Pricewise in the Post today a sudden realisation dawned on me...Silvergreaser must ghostwrite the Sunday column!!
Report Santry June 3, 2012 2:10 PM BST
This really is a thread that should be pulled by Betfair as it is truly offensive and looking at the time it was started probably from someone not in full control of his faculties . Yesterday was a day to remember for all the O'Brien family and I believe for Irish Racing fans as well. It was nice to see Aiden shake the hands of the horses groom first as well as all members of his staff and Joseph stressed the help he recieves from others at Ballydoyle. If every family in this country were like the O'Briens we would have a better country.
Report Tony Fenton June 3, 2012 2:14 PM BST
Patrick needs to chillax imo.
Report wildmanfromborneo June 3, 2012 2:33 PM BST
Santry no need to pull this thread, one warped twisted individual making a show of himself and the wiser posters pointing this out.
His objections seem to be the way they dress, apropriately, and the fact they don`t drink, again apropriately as they are under age and his final objection is they appear to have a work ethic surely something to be commended not sneered at.
Report silvergreaser June 5, 2012 11:08 PM BST
Warped wildman?

Never was!, the guy you think is such a fine upstanding individual is as warped as you can ever get, rearing his children as if he's famous?, you know something I work with a guy from Wexford and I mention Aiden O'Brien to him and he did'nt have the foggiest clue who the guy was, goes to show if you don't back horses nobody gives a hoot!.

His children might just have a chance if the father wasn't such a fruit cake.

What other trainer insists on saddling say 8 horses in the same race?, c'mon every guy that ever done an apprenticeship in horse racing the first thing they learned to do is put a goddamn saddle on?, but no only fruit cake Aiden can put a saddle on a horse?, and this is the same fruit cake that was telling the Curragh and Newmarket stall handlers how to do their job?, the same guys with years and years of experince of working on the horses but God decided he knew better?, one of the stall handlers in the Curragh would be a good friend of mine and said they were inches away from smacking the fruit cake full on the nozzle.

Can you imagine Henry Cecil puffing out of a cigar watching the fruit cake jumping in and out of a 4+4, mobile phone in hand thinking he's gods gift to horse training, Henry just takes another puff and says you can't make the horse go any faster Aiden! or is that fruit cake.

Oh sorry I'm the fruit cake for opening your eyes!.

His children never stood a chance!, and if there is one thing I love and that is children, let them have their lives ffs!.

You get a free cd of this with some calming background music when you enter the hallowed gates of Ballydoyle, I suggest a certain individual would listen to the words of the poem more carefully as a word that begins with "H" springs to mind.

desiderata - by max ehrmann

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even to the dull and the ignorant, they too have their story. Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit.

If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself. Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your own career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time.

Exercise caution in your business affairs, for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals, and everywhere life is full of heroism. Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love, for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is perennial as the grass.

Take kindly to the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful. Strive to be happy.

An inferiority complex, often used to mean low self-esteem, is a feeling of intense insecurity, inferiority or of not measuring up. An inferiority complex can be seen in the negative or "useless" reactions to problems in life. These reactions are useless because they do not solve the problem at hand, but only serve to guard one's self-esteem by avoiding the task or by placing the blame for the failure outside of the individual's control. Although the inferiority complex may be seen as comparing individuals or groups as one being superior to another, it more closely describes how one deals with a fear of failure.
Report wildmanfromborneo June 6, 2012 11:37 AM BST
Silvergrease when you stick to the horse racing you are insightful and knowledgeable but you seem to be driving yourself crazy over Aiden O`Brien. It is legitimate and fair to point out his weaknesses and give your opinion,it is not fair to criticise him as a father or criticise his children, read back some of the things you posted.
Desiderata was a big hit 40 years ago and i am sure Aiden O`Brien picked it up in Bolgers, too saccharin for me i remember hating it at the time but it is not offensive.
Why does a pioneer pin annoy you so much,i wish a few in my family had one.
Your other points about saddling the horses himself show his attention to detail, saddles slip in racing[anyone remember Dibidale],the loading of horses falls under the same category.
You compare him unfavourably to Henry Cecil yet he was born into racing inherited the best stable in England whereas Aiden O`Brien was born on a small Wexford farm and through sheer hard work rose through the ranks to be champion amateur rider, then champion National Hunt trainer when Life Of A Lord won his secong Galway Plate he saddled the first three home[nothing new there]he was headhunted by Magnier and has been a spectacular success,Robert Sangster tried the same thing before with Michael Dickinson with disastrous results.
An Irishman from an ordinary background is now not only the greatest trainer on earth but is the best of all time. The bad news for Silvergreaser is he is young and has many years ahead of him,he will set records that will never be broken.

Not sure where this vitriol is coming for but perhaps the green eyed monster is in overdrive.

I met the an once in ballydoyle, a group of us were on a tour there and as we wandered around he came over and welcomed us. then then stated that he was going to work on some 2year olds and would we like to come.

he spent about an hour with us, answering all our stupid questions and posing for pictures. he was a perfect gentleman and came across as being a quiet and calm individual, very unasumming and it made our groups day.

so he believes in god and is a pioneer? not my cup of tea but to each their own!

So all the family were at the races and shared in what was a huge day? cant see whats wrong with that either.

His record speaks for itself, but to attack his family and his parenting skills and his religious beliefs is a bit sad really.

That said it won't stop me from exposing everything that is wrong with the regulation of Irish racing, Alan Sweetman will from time to time let them know.
He hinted pretty strongly at the almost miraculous improvement of both Power and Ishvana.
Why do these guys get so much praise yet they're taking the proverbial p!ss?

Makes no sense to me?, I give up trying to make sense of it all?

Silent apathy from punter and racing journalist alike?, nothing ever changes?
