I thought he was ancient in the sixties and never forgave him for preventing the Beatles double A side Penny Lane and Strawberry Fields Forever reaching number one[those things seem to matter in those days]so you can imagine my surprise when i read he was representing Britain in the Eurovision song contest.He was a failure in the early sixties but reinvented himself by nicking the name of a German composer,surely he is the oldest singer ever to appear in this contest.

always reminds me of a story my friend tells about his honeymoon night ,he couldn't understand why his new wife refused to talk to him the night of their honeymoon , till it was pointed out to him by someone , that his party piece  , engelbert's  please release me let me go ,was not  appropriate on their wedding night....Happy

Promise this is true_We went to Sri Lanka to get married 1999.On our first night in the hotel that is exactly what we were serenaded by.I thought it was hilarious as Im sure the local band had no idea what the words meant.
