The English Guineas double for the second time !
French , Godolphin and UK fillies left gasping for air behind the brilliant Ballydoyle beast -running for the 15th time -kept sweet and trained to the ounce.
Hope somebody rings RTE so that they might give it a mention.

Ya you are right vubiant,in sporting terms its about as relevant as some rich guy winning a gymkhana with a new expensive pony. The difference between today and yesterday is that his son who they can with the weight of money turn into a jockey didnt ride it today. There is loads of sport stories today that interest the masses. The premiership d day,two golf tournaments, national hurling league final, world snooker final any many other of note.Nobody cares about Coolmore winning a 1000 guineas or any other race for that matter.Nobody cares about flat racing in Ireland, the crowds that turn up are testament to that.

Silver G will be raging, how did she improve so much from her seasonal debut??
Report Vubiant May 6, 2012 5:44 PM BST
Really robo ?
You mention the Premiership. Correct me if I'm wrong but isn't that kept rolling by a posse of billionaires who buy and sell clubs for fun , conduct transfers for multi millions and pay obscene wages to players and managers?  Doesn't seem to deter fans from following 'their' expensively assembled international multiracial teams.
You mention golf - again features a slew of millionaires parading around lush resorts every week for our delight.
Not quite sure then why you single out flat racing for your dismissive remarks.
Irish sporting success on the international stage should be marked and celebrated whatever form it comes in.
In any event -even if flat racing is a 'minority sport' -that's all the more reason to acknowledge it -given the modern view that minorities should not be marginalised.

More people turn up on match day at Old Trafford than do for the whole year in the Curragh.Nobody watches flat racing in Ireland because not alone is it a minority sport it's also completely elitist. The same people win most of the races year in year out,it's just boring vubiant. There are no characters involved in flat racing,be they trainers or jockeys or owners for that matter.O Brien and Oxx might be good racehorse trainers but there would be more charisma in a grape than both of them combined. Most of the jockeys are little pretentious men with large egos. How could anybody really like this rubbish, most people use it as a betting medium but they won't be followers of the sport

Marvellous feat. Let's hope they are paraded at the Curragh tomorrow.

Delighted for connections, proper racing family. Great boost for racing in Ireland as well

Some performance and some training feat. This filly got some real hard races as a two year old and seemed to be on the go all year, even sent to America and to bring her back as a three year old and get that amount of improvement out of her is incredible. He did something similar if not as spectacular with Peeping Fawn some years back, you can never write off any of his horses.
Report Kelly May 6, 2012 11:52 PM BST
Great to win both the English classics to date , even if it was with the "wrong " filly .  No bet myself although I did fancy Maybe was a bit better than the rest .  But the winner came out of left field as far as most of us were concerned .

Flat racing in Ireland when I was growing up punting wise was always interesting , lots of characters in the training ranks , lots scrabbling for a living .  Different ball game nowadays it seems , and the lack of character laying wise also detracts from the going racing experience , and it seems to affect attendances at the flat meetings more than at the jumps or for a mixed card . Big business though , big employer , cant be all that bad .

Ballydoyle will soon be the next Lourdes, Aiden's miraculous powers have not gone unnnoticed.

Who wants a Fatima or Lourdes pilgrimage when we've Ballydoyle on our doorstep?.

Ballydoyle holy water will cure all your ills, pour that Knock stuff down the toilet it doesn't work.

Do you just seeth over everything??

It was a fine achievement by Ballydoyle in winning both Classics at the weekend and their first Classic for 4 years.

All the man can do is try and get the best out of his animals and have them on the bunny for the big day..........that is what he is paid to do..........Plenty of others with similar stock can't seem to do it.

im with silver on this one;this operation do not care one bit for anyone or any human being other than their own greed;they rode the country for years with no tax on their stallions;but silver dont let it get to u;u will find that these plebs that backslap the coolmore operation have empty lives;and that by winning these races its great for our country LOL
Report GANT007 May 7, 2012 11:50 AM BST
Why should they care about anyone but themselves and their staff........they plough in their own money.
It's not like they are fly by night builders buying rounds of drink after their €80/100k store wins a maiden hurdle and then scream NAMA.
Report ihatefatties May 7, 2012 11:54 AM BST
ok gant but it amazes me that plebs on here seem to think its fantastic that they are ruining racing esp in ireland;ill put it to the plebs this way;if u had a nice little horse in training in ireland its impossible to compete;fact the curragh is their own training ground;watered to or not whatever they require
Report ihatefatties May 7, 2012 11:55 AM BST
magnier tabor and crew would stand on thier back slappers for a tenner
Report GANT007 May 7, 2012 12:05 PM BST
That's flat racing for you it's all about the money and stock........If coolmore we not winning would it be the Aga Khan or the maktoums.........every business has to look after their best customers and the curragh are no different.
Report ihatefatties May 7, 2012 12:42 PM BST
true gant but is that fair if i had a horse entered that wanted good ground and they water for coolmore which has happened on dozens of occasions;ask michael bell
Report Vubiant May 7, 2012 4:30 PM BST
Incidentally , ihatefatties , could you expand a little on your use of the term 'plebs'?
Who are they , what are their characteristics and what criteria have you used in identifying them?
Your disclosures could be of considerable sociological interest.
Report robo May 7, 2012 4:40 PM BST
Id say vubiant that you would qualify as a back slapping pleb.Have a good look at St Nicholas Abbey and you may well begin to understand why nobody has any interest in Irish racing.
Report Vubiant May 7, 2012 5:33 PM BST
If you're referring to the result of today's Mooresbridge Stakes at The Curragh -what happened there was simple jockey error .
Happens every day. All professionals make errors in discharging their duties -jockeys no different.
Hope that's not too plebeian for your refined taste .Laugh
Report ihatefatties May 7, 2012 5:47 PM BST
robo spot on;these type of people sicken me
Report robo May 7, 2012 5:54 PM BST
Quite correct vubiant, all the back slapping plebs will put that down to simple jockey error. The same jockey error as when he managed to get beaten by Unaccompanied.Aidan was delighted with the run though and he said thats racing.
Report Vubiant May 7, 2012 6:24 PM BST
Robo -On the defeat by Unaccompanied -it was SNA's seasonal debut over 10f on soft. He was ridden by Seamie Heffernan.
The horse has been overhyped since his Racing Post win . He's good but not a win machine.
So what exactly are some people suggesting -that Ballydoyle jockeys make deliberate errors and are quite happy to make idiots of themselves in public -or that AOB instructs them to do so? What would be the point of all this?
Besides if some punters have formed the view that Ballydoyle runners are conspiratorially primed -they have a choice. If they see a pattern it should be possible to exploit it in a laying or backing strategy. If not -avoid them.
It's not like there aren't 10,000 other races to bet on.
