OK guys maybe not the thread for this topic, but we are all punters so here goes.......... Championship play-off time is with us again and these games do provide great entertainment. Some of you may know that this season I have been betting West Ham, after backing them to get win the Championship, well they lost that and indeed threw it away as they were poor at home all season long. Lost games they had control of, often ahead only to get pegged back to lose two points or three points, and beaten by 3 points after amassing a grand total of 86 points for the season. They finished 10 points clear of the next 4th placed Birmingham (play Blackpool tomorrow in the play-off's), and 11 points ahead of both Bloackpool, and tonights opponents Cardiff City. Big Sam will no doubt be in defensive mode in tonights play-off but this may not stop the hammers from getting the all important away goal, and at 4/1 are worth a small bet to be in front at halftime-fulltime.Hammers have so often this season been quick out of the blocks and have got many an early goal. Also note they may want a goal tonight as they have not been at their best at Upton Park. But the main bet is for the Hammers to get the 3rd Promotion spot, and at 17/10 with both Laddies and Powers I think they are a massive bet. These are cup-final matches and West Ham have always been a decent cup side. Also a plus is the fact that the play-of FINAL f is on in Wembley..... this is my weekend lump job, so step up to the plate Big Bold Sam...... ps Camelot and Jim Furyk bets also for me ........
Jay i'm just looking through the prices now, don't usually bet on Championship games but imo i can't believe how poor of value West Ham are tonight, West Ham favs v Cardiff away from home? This Cardiff side are on a good run, used to playing playoff games, actually a decent cup side getting to a league cup final v Liverpool and getting an FA cup final few years ago as well as a playoff final 2 years ago. Cardiff are full for this, the only positive i have for West Ham is that they beat Cardiff 2-0 in this fixture on the 4th of March but it was the first game for Cardiff after being beaten by Liverpool at Wembley in the LC final. To me Cardiff in this game are the bet in pure terms of value. But GL with your bet if you play.

OK pf I know what your saying is fair but West Ham are now into 6/4 away tonight and thats mainly because of their away record all season long.Best away results in the championship but not so good at home where they seemed nervous and sluggish at times before their own fans. Hammers probably will need to score tonight, the away goal being so important. In fairness any 2 could get to the final and your fancy Blackpool are scoring plenty but concede alot, and therein lies their achilles heel. Cardiff have a poor record in the play-offs and thats going to be on their minds, and the more I think about this the more I fancy Big Sam to bring it off, I'm on 17/10, and 7/4 Hammers to get the 3rd Promotion slot, with keeper Green my ace.......

Didn't fancy the Hammers myself (I backed Cardiff tonight & for promotion) but they fully deserved their win tonight
Hopefully they'll mess it up at home!

Jaytrump is rapidly becoming the football expert on here,i read plenty of articles on the European Cup semi finals not one of them mentioned the fact that the two Spanish teams were playing in a vital La Liga game at the weekend,JayTrump did.In a detailed post he explained that exhaustion would play a part and was proven right in both semi finals. You knew deep down that JayTrump would be right again when the hapless Rocketfingers disagreed, soccer can now be added to the list of the many sports that he knows nothing about.

Well Wildman your some man, fair + honest though, and in fairness to yourself your onda ball, ............ Now with my interest in West Ham to get that Promotion (my euros !)I had watched the other semi-final last night. Not a great game by any stretch of the imagination, two tired looking teams with Bermingham looking the more tired. A 1-0 win for Blackpool was a poor return for their dominance and it is still in the melting pot. They should have won 2 or 3 nil but right at the death King spoilt a great chance to put Birmingham level. The second game is going to be a tough hard game and I wont be surprised if Blackpool are sent packing. But Bermingham need goals and on last nights showing I dont know where they will come from, though football is a funny old game.Bermingham have a good record at home and Blackpool are not the best travellers, so in what will most likely be a close game, and could take more than the 90mins to settle, I am going for Bermingham to be the opponents, to the Hammers who should qualify handy enough in their second leg on Monday. One further stat is that historically 3rd and 4th placed teams do not do well in the play-offs so another stat for Blackpool to overcome. One thing in their favour though is Bermingham have played a huge amount of games due to their Europa involvement, and looked tired.

West Ham are through and await tomorrow nights winner, Blackpool, or Bermingham who are at home, and slight odds on to win the second leg, but around 5/4 to qualify. Its a tough one and will surely be close with nerves playing a big part in a hugely important game for both clubs.First goal will be so vital, and this could be a long night for both sets of fans. I have a sneaky suspicion that Bermingham will get there somehow but who is going to score for them.Blackpool are dangerous on the break and can score goals, but for West Ham backers, who are in a good position now to trade if they wish, its a game to watch and hope for a long night.

YES indeed pf they got tere and deserved it over the two legs, but Bermingham were in a charitable mood, though the conditions were brutal. The 90million game is up for grabs but I still think that Big Sam will get the Hammers over the line and grab that big money Premiership spot. They are very strong and we must wait to see how Collison is after putting his shoulder out the other night.

I thought Blackpool outclassed them for 60 minutes and had the referee the balls to make a big decision early they would have had a penalty and the Birmingham defender off for pulling the player back when through in the first few minutes. The last 20-25 minutes they made it hard for themselves as they didn't keep the ball and move it around as they had done for the first hour and they could have paid for it but Birmingham just are not good enough going forward.
Just hope it's a good game now on an awesome day of sport (Play Off Final followed by Heineken Cup Final followed by Champions League Final followed by Greyhound Derby Semi Finals and Larry Dunne Final)
