Bookies were moved to stand so they would be looking at the track like the markets field. Dont know if it makes much difference maybe they feel they wont get the same exposure to the crowd in the bars and restaurants. From a punters point of view it would be better because you can have your bet and turn around and watch the race instead of running back up to the stand. Mind you there isnt too many complaining about them being on strike

sure if it strenghtened the tote pools it would be good for everyone..with the prices on offer!!.they(the tote) take 30% outa the pools so the prices would be way better if the pools were strong?

yeah it would but generally there is only one dog backed for any sort of money so it would wipe out the price on the tote. To be fair to the bookies the big punters arent there this is partly due to past management of the old track. Ive seen young O'Neill lay without the favourite, he often goes bigger prices than straight books and mightnt lay two bets in the race which shows the lack of the punters in the stadium. So even though the bookies get alot of stick their i do have a "small" bit of sympathy for them

if the prices were fair the punters would come..its like askingsome one to take 1/3 on a coin toss at the moment.its hard for sure to be a bookie there.as you say no one is going to have a big bet without "knowing" something,i remember years ago in shel park and harolds cross there was proper betting and laying done..to proper odds.
