Doesn't surprise me at all,the man is a senile delusional fool, the sooner the better we get rid of him,
ian harte is by a million miles the country best left back, yet this idiot doesn't even know he's irish!

How old is Harte , nice to see him get promotion back to the Premiership. I think Reading picked him up from Carlilse or someone similar, hell of a free kick taker.
Report Paddy Hair April 26, 2012 3:16 AM BST
Just checked on the internet hasn't played for Ireland since 2007 and is 34 years old. I am guessing at 34 he has lost a yard of pace, shame you can't just bring them on for free kicks. Says he played 63 times for Ireland scoring 11 goals, pretty good for a defender. With a bit of luck he will get one last big pay day with Reading before he retires, he was always a solid Pro did his job without any big time charlie antics.

goals win games. surely with our limited squad, Harte and Delap should be included.
Report The Icchantika April 26, 2012 10:05 AM BST
An awful player. I can't believe anyone who has ever watched football would seriously consider that a man who was rubbish 10 years ago would now be worth his spot. He was so bad when he was playing for Ireland that we had to play a second left back- Kilbane- to cover his corner. Useless.
Report Tony Fenton April 26, 2012 10:37 AM BST
Paddy if he has lost a yard of pace that means he is dog slow now.

Great man from dead balls but imagine the craic Modric and Xavi would have putting balls in behind him.

He said in his interview he hasn't lost a yard of pace, he said he never had the pace to lose in the 1st place Laugh

The current management apparent lack of interest/knowledge in form is strange.

It really is Charlton MKII. Very little imagination within the entire structure.
Report freddiek April 26, 2012 10:58 AM BST
Harte had his time in the green jersey, won his share of caps although many had doubts about him

we have a relatively small group of players who ve qualified for the finals on their own steam so perhaps Ian should get behind the team and manager instead of doing his Poor Me act
Report Ozymandius April 26, 2012 11:08 AM BST
Even in his prime, he was one of the slowest players ever to appear in The Prem.  Lovely left foot though.

I agree about bringing DeLap.
Report vinnie_roe April 26, 2012 5:05 PM BST
Too slow for international football. Could you imagine harte trying to deal with robben's pace.
Report ilikewavingatbuses April 26, 2012 5:18 PM BST
one of the few irish players that doesnt have an english accentLaugh
Report mightymoyes April 26, 2012 6:01 PM BST
very few do have english accents you mean surely? or are you stuck in the 90's?
Report ilikewavingatbuses April 26, 2012 6:10 PM BST
do u take everything literally on the bf forum YDC?
Report neill d April 27, 2012 4:45 AM BST
The slowest professional footballer I have ever seen, he has been lucky to have the career he has had in truth, think he got in just in time before the generation of 'athletic' footballers. If he was a 15yr old kid today, the scouts would watch him turn, take one luck at the size of his arse and say 'no thanks, but where does he get his carvery?'
Report Tony Fenton April 27, 2012 1:41 PM BST
Laugh and still Keane says he made a big mistake at Ipswich not signing Harte.
Report ilikewavingatbuses April 27, 2012 3:15 PM BST
had his moments from the free kick spot but agree, not a great player .
Report OnTheSnaff April 27, 2012 5:46 PM BST
i dont think the issue is wether hes a good player or not,But are any of you trying to tell me Stephen Ward is a better left full, and what other left fulls do we have?i cant think of many,
Thats the reason id have him in the Left back slot.
Report neill d April 27, 2012 5:56 PM BST
The fact Ward can run the 100m in under 20 seconds means he just shades it for me ;)
Report Ozymandius April 27, 2012 6:15 PM BST
I can remember even Beckham skinning Harte for pace...never seen him do it to any other fullback, ever,
Report el gato April 27, 2012 9:09 PM BST
lots of bull**it on here, harte has been a good player for many years. two years ago he was the leading irish goalscorer in england (or v close) playing as a full back, he was good enough this year to be chosen by his fellow pros as being the best left full in the championship (apologies but as thick as they probably all are they still understand football better than the ditch players on here) when you see some of the rubbish playing for irelanfd these days, id much rather have harte. at least he might get a goal. , he did the last time he was called on. top player, been a pro the guts of 20 years, and back in the premiership next year. good luck to him.
Report OnTheSnaff April 27, 2012 10:24 PM BST
Well said el gato, dont get all the hate towards harte,he's been a top pro for well over a decade and is the best left back available for ireland
