I commute in from Red Cow every day to work but yesterday I was in the City Center for a few pints. Anyway in around 2 o Clock and I kid you not there was a Woman with her pants down around her ankles going for a piss and no.2 beside the Luas Stop at the Muesem in the middle of the day with a full luas looking at her and even worse tourist actually have to avoid stepping in the filth she left after her.
I was shocked and disgusted and the woman was no more than 40. More than likely she was off her head but to do such a thing is abhorrent in any society. Its not the only time you see what can only be described as animals on the red line and around Jervis and Connolly roaring and making a show of themselves. Beside Madigan's at night during the Winter is like a War Zone lads belting the heads off each other off the main street in Dublin and arguably one the citys tourist attractions. How can the Gardai and Goverment allow this to continue. I hang my head in shame when i see foreign nationals being racially abused and even worse tourists basically having to look where they go in the City Center for goodness sakes.
I get the socalists out telling me these people where left behind by the Celtic Tiger and addiction is an awful thing. I agree its awful but when people start being a physical threat to the law abiding citzens its time for action. Whoever thought putting drug rehab in the middle of the ****ing city center was a good idea?.
Drug Clinics have to be public transport friendly, the southside clinic one is in Dun Laoghaire due to its excellent transport links and that has blighted the area in recent years.
I had to call to a mate a while ago for a few beers and getting the Luas to his, the ticket inspectors came on a Luas at Abbey St and he asked some junkie for a ticket, cue junkie abusing the inspector while the junkie was holding a knife behind his back.
Dublin and the country as a whole is staring down the barrel of a very serious drink problem. This isn't going for 10 pints and falling asleep, this is getting tanked up on spirits before you go out then getting more hammered after you hit town. I'm in my early 20s and I'm amazed at the state of people my age and see it as a future health epidemic in waiting. Like the drink driving years ago we need a change in culture.
From experience Dublin is safer then English cities and Sydney and Melbourne. You get drunken violence everywhere and your at more risk of pick pockets/ criminals in the likes of Barcelona and Naples (if your foolish enough to ever go there.)

ive seen junkies injecting themselves with heroin on a packed luas,no problem to them at all.The luas is by far the best mode of public transport in dublin, just a shame about most the junkies on them

My cousin spent a month in jail recently for a repeat drink driving charge(he deserved it, and it was the best thing that happened him). He was a soldier who had to resign(so not to loose his army pension). He was in a cell in Castlerea for 5 days with a lad who owed a credit union 17k...that lad was there for 3 days in total. He then moved to Lough Linn House Prison(which is a holiday camp). Castlerea prison used to be inhabited by IRA people, who used to make sure there was no drugs etc....., now I am told it is full of wanna bee knackers. It is amazimg the stories he told me about the freedom and privacy prisoners have have in Ireland atm. He was given a key to his cell while he was there as he also was a civil servant.

I was on the red line from city centre to heuston with my family, middle of the day, luas packed. ended up beside two skangers supping their dutch gold pissed out of their heads who were playfully headbutting each other, you couldnt make it up.their game nearly turned nasty, havent been that worried for our safety in years.
At home we have serial shoplifters who nip in and out and take what they want, guards called and they go through the motions , but they know that the judge will just tell them not to do it again, waste of everyones time. judicary are a joke in this neck of the woods anyway, if your phone rings you get a few hours in the cell for your troubles yet steal and terriorise shopkeepers and youre asked not to do it again x 50 times.
