Well yet again a very poor line up considering the first prize of 17K and the Grade 3 Status. I'm amazed the track don't market the race in the UK and try and attract some English chasers, because clearly we don't have too many interested in a reasonable pot. Granted fast ground conditions have reduced fields recently but I'm sure I could pick out at leat 10 horses in Monday's Irish National who might have been better coming to Cork in search of more realistic pickings !

The most horses we've seen in this race in recent times was 9 back in 2004 when Joueur D'Estruval made all to justify his status as 9/4 jolly ! But in recent years we've had 4 runners on 4 occasions and 5 twice so its been lacking quality and quantity in abundance !

This years renewal looks a real shocker the likely favourite won his novice chase in Sligo and the quality of the field hardly does justice to the race titled after a superb horse.

Hard luck on John Berry today.....big pot gone west....still not to worry....there will be other days.....the horse is only 10.....plenty miles on the clock.....the chap that rode looks destined for the top.....very polished
