5.25 Mount Welcome looks a very fair price ew at 13/2

Started off this year over fences when finishing 2nd to Beckwith Star on his first start over the larger obstacles which was a very good run
Odonimee over 3l behind in 3rd has won very easily twice since and is now rated 133 over fences
Lead Kindly Light 4l behind in 4th has won twice since and is rated 124 over fences

So the form of that race has an extremely solid look to it

Then maybe surprisingly they reverted back to the flat/hurdles with this one after that one chase run, i can only assume because they feel there is a race to be won with it off its current mark. Because there was definitely a small Chase or 2 to be picked up.

And they were alomst proven correct in Feb over CD when Mount Welcome was a well backed 7/2 favourite. Travelled into the race extremely well and was going on to win when coming to grief at the last when under bare hands and heels riding 2l clear with the rest flat out.

Got raised 2lbs for that effort nto but ran no sort of race at Gowran in a race that many never got into when well beaten behind Owennacurra Milan. Tequila Lord who would have been over 5l behind if Mount Welcome stayed standing at Clonmel finished 3rd that day miles in front which makes me confident Mount Welcome just didnt run up to form on that occasion!

Has been dropped 1lb from that run and the jock takes 5lbs off - only win has come on yielding ground but has been placed on good so hopefully the ground wont be much of a worry but all in all looks a bet at 13/2 ew

He is trained by the worst trainer in the country.  The man must be some talker or charges nothing to have d amount of horses he has. Utterly hopeless trainer.

Strong support for Carlowsantana in this now, thought Will Lattimore may have put it up on atr site but nope!

I dont rate Rothwell either - rubbish trainer
8 winners from 290 odd runners 11/12 season is pathetic
13 from 330 odd runners 10/11 is nearly worse!

Must be a good salesman Grin I just think this horse is a few lbs better than his mark so av to ignore the trainer

Saint Gervais has won on fast ground and although jumping is a concern is the banker today.
Report Bassanio April 5, 2012 12:57 PM BST
How is something a banker if you are worried about its jumping?
Report thegalwayman April 5, 2012 1:02 PM BST
Rothwell is a superb trainer of a thoroughbred. I have often eulogised about his gifts as a handler of horseflesh on here over the years. Those questioning this man need to click on that little Gamcare logo at the bottom of the page because if you don't appreciate his talent you shouldn't be having a bet.

That's in addition to him sticking his snout up into the air the last day when he didn't want to by Mullins runner who ain't no star. He looked a nice horse in bumpers but I haven't been taken by Saint Gervais over hurdles yet. He may win but there is definitely better even money shots.

Maybe banker the wrong word but my only bet today, second fav now out.

I had a fancy for According to Paddy in the H chase, being by Accordion, he should appreciate the better ground.  He has though, disappointed previously on it but there may be reasons for that.  Well handicapped on his hurdles form he ran alright lto without really being put into the race.  Drift on here a bit off putting, but as its for only small money wouldn't be overly worried about that yet, as it may only be bots in action.  Would cettainly be interesting if any money comes for it closer to the off otherwise might just be a spin round in mid div. At currently 20s ish on here might be worth a few small bob.

I backed that last Phil winner (I back all his runners, trust me he knows the time of day) and have had it all on his runner in the next. Rothwell, odds on, mares beginner's chase. What could possibly go wrong?

Incredible result. I can only surmise that the favourite was nobbled by some dastardly villain of the stables.

C'est la guerre.

Let's hope you were on before the sharks on here got the value.

Well done BJG. Grin

Off course he did.

You would want to be mad to post something up here before you have had a bet yourself.

Well done BJG.

was it just me or did anyone else think nina carberry had a shocking ride on the fav in the last.....
Report dj876 April 5, 2012 11:01 PM BST
IN fairness to Nina,I can guarantee the trainer's instructions were to be held up to this extreme,Kiely rode like this himself and believes it gives horses confidence to come from behind,it is also more visually effective for sale jobs(ask Graham Wylie).

The yard is not a punting stable and it is only in the last 3 years that Jp has had horses back there after a major public fallout over take five.
