Well done dont think anybody else thought of this.

Good work trooper. Something similar myself but more modest. Really was free money. I'd say there are plenty that did the same, lots of well worn paths within a square mile of O'Connell Bridge.

|
By:
ok.
pleasure talking to a pro like yourself! all the best! |

It is obvious that it was Dublin City centre that this was supposedly done in.
Why a thread congratulating himself (rather than thanking PP)is necessary is the mystery. |
|
By:
Bass i think you need to read my post again
|
|
By:
Where did you get the 5/6 SS?
|
|
By:
PP bits of 10/11 but mostly 5/6
|
|
By:
Oh right, he was evens for about half an hour that morning in Powers when I was doing the rounds
Boyles were money back if 2nd so I thought you might have backed him there to cover everything. Maybe that was just online though. |

One of the oldest adages in racing is the time to stay quiet about a coup is after the event.
Well done Trooper Thornton. |
|
By:
Your right of course wildman but 2 be fair its unlikely they will **** up like that again
|
|

The enhanced prices, the money back offers plus the bonuses made it a traders dream but i don`t think they are the customers they are trying to attract.
While i appreciate you got a touch out of the Sprinter Sacre deal i feel they dodged a bullet and desperately wanted him to win plus all the ordinary punters collecting their money back were physically in one of their offices and i am sure they managed to extract some of that cash. |
|
By:
How many pulled of this coup then?
There were 2 other lads that had mentioned to me that they were going to go around shops in Dublin. They were simply backing one horse rather than forming a book however. At some stage the staff must have spotted what was going on although they would have been very busy. What was the traffic like in the shops this year? By all accounts there were many that were much quieter than usual, Ladbrokes in particular. |
|
By:
I know some who did the same too around the city centre
|
|
By:
I dont see what the point of starting a thread braging about this.
Obviously trooper you were'nt the only one who done this and PP know its happening but if people are spreading the word on internet forums PP are less likely to keep doing these specials every year. The cut max person to €100 to try and stop this it was €300 person a few years ago when Dunguib ran. |

My last word on this
It’s not bragging on my part its satisfaction, as normally they are a frustrating firm to get on with when the circumstances are right FFS why such animosity at a touch from a fellow forumulite it was nice to get one over on PP and even better to let them know it Or would you be happier if I did one of their special forecasts/tricasts or name the first 6 in the correct order in a greyhound race in one of their shops. I’m well aware that highlighting things like this does impact on them been repeated but does anyone on here really believes that they will make that same mistake again |
|
By:
I have availed of this offer for the last 3 years all be it on a much smaller scale. I dont think PP care about us doing this type of thing. Its a publicity stunt which im sure their money men have worked out the cost of and i think they will do it again next year
|
|
By:
agree, they attract new punters and lets face it, most that got their money back just gave it right back to them straight away.
my facebook home page was rammed with everyone betting right throughout the 4 days, girls and boys, most of whom would never normally have a bet and yet they had all their selections up each day. great money spinner for paddy and happy days if a few shrewdies got a few bob too. wd |

aww no....i can only presume when the legend is polluting the irish forum aswell that he is indeed irish....Im afraid to say you are an embarrassment to the nation legend.....

FFS why such animosity at a touch from a fellow forumulite
Appologies if my post came accross that way Trooper it was'nt intended. I did the same bet as you but on a much smaller scale. I agree with others who think they will do it again next year tho. The general feeling seems to be because there was only 6 runners this year that it was their best special ever but it does'nt matter how many many runners there is its the price of the fav that matters. Dunguib was 8/11 and the maths worked out the same with around 15 runners. On a side note the boyles special of dutching the English trained horses worked out at 1/2 with money back if a Irish horse won. There does'nt seem to be too mant who availed of that offer. wd on your big scale coup tho if the odds are similar next year l will plan it better and go bigger myself. Did your route take advantage of lots of shops in the tallaght area by any chance l was gona head that direction myself. |
|
By:
the idea was to hit areas where there was a concentration of both Paddies and Spoils shops.
In Dublin, that isn't terribly difficult. That said, you need about 10 grand in cash to do it properly. And that isn't easy when you consider that for the rest of the week you need your exchange accounts well stocked to do well, for example place laying Nicholls runners on the Friday. |

That the bones of 6 weeks wages to a lot of people Legend, worth getting out of bed imo.

in fairness to spoils, i spent 1200 on specials and got 6k back, i sent in the girlfriend for one, and they knew there were all mine because of the hand writing , when i went in they paid up cash and then a 4 figure cheque.... no prob.
these specials work both ways at times, win lots or lose lots. wd trooper. 99.999 of gamblers either backed S.S. or the field , P.P. took a stand, people backing S.S. with them is a loss bet, where as backing any of the others is just giving mugs back to lose their money in the next. the idea P.P. had was, the fav was a cert lets take the least amount of money we can on him, generate all this talk and advertising early in the meeting and get people through the door. And it will pay off during the week with the extra custom. |
