Wylie's ex Howard Johnson trained horses winning most races they're entered in.  Grade 1 & 2 winners galore.  Some of these horses were only winning ordinary races across the water.  Any views??

In fairness most of the Wylie horses started off as promising types over here before going to Johnson who was an awful trainer. Prince De Beauchane was an unexposed type coming over here too. No surprise that they are doing well for Mullins.

On a more general note this years novice hurdlers besides three or four are a motley bunch. The novice chasers are a bit better with maybe half a dozen with genuine Grade One pretentions next year. Last years novice hurdlers were a better crop and the better chases were good horses but not 170 plus types. I do think that while the average bumper is becoming increasingly poor over here there has been a few notable performers, more so than last year anyway, that will make the grade in novice hurdles next season.

i reckon if Howard Johnson still had them they would be getting beaten at odds on in bad races

No way....i be the exact opposite view. These are very well bred horses....under proper guidance it just shows how good they can be.

They don't buy Irish anymore, if you've a guy with a wallet you buy French.

Every decent national hunt horse now is French, Kauto, Long Run, Hurricane its an infinity?

Are you sure about Hurricane? Confused
Report silvergreaser February 26, 2012 8:56 PM GMT
irish bred, french trained gotchee, doesn't disguise the fact the once untouchable Irish national hunt breds are playing second fiddle to french breds, ask Willie, I don't think he actually trains an Irish bred horse?
Report A Hard Day's Night February 26, 2012 9:39 PM GMT
You really are an idiot. Mullins has twice as many Irish breds as French ones. Hurricane Fly is Irish bred. Thats a fact. To say he is French is effectively to dismiss Irish breds trained across the water as being English bred. You probably didn't even know he was an Irish bred but as ever are too pig ignorant to admit as such.

If you knew a thing about horses and racing you would also be aware that trainers are gone back to buying Irish breds as they cannot afford the overpriced French types. Its a monopoly on the ones worth buying over there and it's only a handful of trainers who have owners willing to play inflated prices.

In the next five years will be a big reduction in the impact of French horses other than the real top ones. The rest will be remaining over there.

A cursory glance at the Festival novice races would show that Irish breds hold the upper hand.

It was you idiot a spam, just a generalisation.

There is not any doubt about the standard of Irish National Hunt Racing......... its deplorable, truly low standard bar a few real top horses, we have nothing to go for the Gold Cup,we see moderate animals running for huge prizemoney which is a disgrace in these tough economic times, where Nurses Gards Teachers etc have their wages cut, and we all pay exorbitant prices for our fuel, but the game goes on and no one really cares
Report silvergreaser February 26, 2012 10:02 PM GMT
By the way, you like many others are an insider crying, can you not except the fact that French bred horses are better?
Report silvergreaser February 26, 2012 10:14 PM GMT
I love the way insiders use the word idiot?, says an awful lot more about them than it does their nemesis.

WELCOME TO THE OCCUPATION!

Hang your collar up inside
Hang your dollar on me
Listen to the water still
Listen to the causeway
You are mad and educated
Primitive and wild
Welcome to the occupation

Here we stand and here we fight
All your fallen heroes
Held and dyed and skinned alive
Listen to the Congress fire
Offering the educated
Primitive and loyal
Welcome to the occupation

Hang your collar up inside
Hang your freedom higher
Listen to the buyer still
Listen to the Congress
Where we propagate confusion
Primitive and wild
Fire on the hemisphere below

Sugar cane and coffee cup
Copper, steel and cattle
An annotated history
The forest for the fire
Where we open up the floodgates
Freedom reigns supreme
Fire on the hemisphere below
Listen to me
Listen to me
Listen to me
Listen to me

we will know in 2 weeks-chelt.  i think our hurdlers are the best, and i was a bit dubious about our chasers, but seabass and bog warrior can make it to the top i think.
Report Slabster February 27, 2012 1:31 PM GMT
Silvergreaser, Hurricane Fly is Irish bred. Wink I think you're the one making generalisations!
