In the week where the the hurling headlines are devoted to Mullane taking six weeks off and Lar prematurely calling it a day, Michael Kavanagh has retired. A quietly efficient defender who only won eight all-irelands and four all-stars. Didn`t give Mullane a sniff in the first half of the 08 final and I would also recall how he held  the  ball in play as he slid over the sideline in the lead-up to Comerfords goal in 09. Thanks Mick!
