If it's only online betting getting taxed, the punter should be ok as it will be more than likely absorbed. Otherwise we will all head to the bookies to do our bets or else hit the race track.

That has nothing to do with the argument whatsoever,you could apply that logic to all spending.Why should half the price of a pint go to the exchequer to possibly ultimately finish up in the pocket of some illitirate traveller with 34 kids who is signing in 6 different places.The HRI are more than likely not going to be any more wasteful than any other state body.Not saying that they arent both inept and incompetent,but show me a government body that isnt.

I did a chapter on this for a project in UL, this was supposed to be sorted out this time last year when similar comments were made but I presume was put on the backburner with an election looming. Personally, I'm not sure they know how to go about legislating in the area.
