wait until the day and back at EVS if you believe she will be that price, takes any risk out of it

Did I read somewhere on here that Laddies are doing NRNB?, 5/4 with them, again takes the risk out, but don't know for def if this is in fact true.
|
|
By:
They are NR-NB on the 4 Championship races
|
|
By:
but from what i have seen over the last few years this mare must take little training to get right and there is nothing to beat if welds filly an VLV go the champion route
|
|

VLV is now officially rated 1lb above Quevega & has improved no end since finishing behind Quevega in the race a year or two back. If she does go for the race, might still get 6/4 on the day.

They are mad to take her on so they are - been biggest price al winter
I have her as the 2nd leg of a few doubles at 6/4 with the first leg in Sparky May is retired VLV must be unlikely to run here but trainer did say that b4 her win lto(that she would nt travel to Chelt) so maybe minds have changed and id be very surprised if Unacc stepped up in trip after winnin a G1 over 2m lto If the 2 of them dont turn up and Quevega is fit and well - she would be a genuine 2/5 shot against anythin else imo I think 13/8 is a great price but already have enough on at 6/4 so shall just sit and hope she gets there at 100% ![]() |

Dhe will piss up again in my opinion and there is surely absolutely no chance she will be 6/4 on the day, i'd be delighted with EVS on the day.

taking 5/4 nrnb is better option ?

VLV:
Trainer, Colm Murphy, said: "We have had a great run with her this season and she still has loads of options. "If the ground was soft then she could go back to two miles. I’m not sure if she will go to Cheltenham, there are plenty of good races here at home." Unaccompanied: “That was a lovely performance from her and a brilliant ride from Paul,” said trainer Dermot Weld. “I was a bit concerned about her lack of experience, especially taking on Thousand Stars, who is high class and a very solid performer. "My biggest concern, however, was whether the rain would bring her stamina into play. I will speak to her owner and we might consider the Champion, but the obvious target now is to come back for the Irish Champion (Jan 29).” |

Betting AP in not for me. Remember we havnt seen Quevega since last May and W.P.Mullins is hardly pro punter in his outlook. That mares race is not the most competitive but would far prefer to wait for the day and assess things then.

|
By:
To be fair Santry before her 2011 win she did not race since Punchestown 2010.Similarly prior to her 2010 success her previous race was at Auteueil in May 2009.
Seems likely they will follow the same prep this year as she seems to be one of those horses that can be race ready without a prep run. |

Brilliant mare Quevega has won the last three renewals of the David Nicholson Mares' Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival, the last twice scoring on what was her first start of the season.
Mullins is unlikely to change her schedule this time around. "Quevega will have a similar plan to in previous years and we'd be delighted to have her fit and ready for Cheltenham again," he added. "She doesn't owe us anything now so we'll try to keep to the same plan, I think." |

Cheers BJG i was sure i had read that quote somewhere.
If it ain't broke and all that. Who are we to doubt Willie Mullins ? |

2 Things
1) Is it possible that Mourad(French flat bred) isn't as good as he was last season and is in decline, therefore, is it possible that VLV is a little flattered? 2) I'd guess that the improvement brought out by VLV is brought about mainly through her settling better, but the trainer is on record as saying that VLV is a very bad traveller, factor in the red hot atmosphere at Cheltenham which she didn't exactly handle well the last time, isn't there a strong chance she'll boil over. She is getting better, but I'd still have grave doubts as to whether she is better than Quevega despiting the new rating. If Quevega was campaigned more ambitiously, there is a strong possibility she would have a higher mark than 159 so all in all I think we should take these ratings with a pinch of salt. |
|
By:
Think I read somewhere last week that VLV's owner is not inclined towards Cheltenham with the mare. Probably the sensible approach as the ground is likely to be faster then the mare favours and if she is a bad traveller. Think if they get Quevega there in near her best she will win but in this game that is far from certain.

Quote from Ruby Walsh ......
" ...... she's not an easy mare to train but she will go straight to Cheltenham, and you can be sure Willie will have her spot on ......" |
|
By:
I'd be surprised if Voler La Vedette goes for the CH as she needs at least 2m4f and Unaccompanied could be another for the Mares Hurdle. So on that basis, Quevega wouldn't be a great price at 6/4 right now so I'd wait until closer to the time, or even the day, when she could be bigger. I fancy her to hack up again but she may actually be bigger on March 13

sounds as if VLV will travel listenin to CM on ATR earlier

Unaccompanied not goin to Chelt
VLV goin for the WOrld Hurdle Just waitin to collect now |

A mare that only has two runs a year has to have training problems and while she is undoubtedly very talented is a lay price at odds on.
