Rory O'Moore ran a cracker in an exciting finish to what invariably is a Red hot bumper,at Navan this afternoon. Down the years we've seen a few top class horses land this Grade 2 'Future Champions Bumper' notably-DUNGUIB,CORSKEAGH ROYALE,SHIRLEY CASPER and DRUMBALOO. A few fair but dodgy types got beaten in it too MICK THE MAN and TORNADO SHAY two smart but often tricky types. LUSKA LAD also ran well to a point in this race behind DUNGUIB.
Therefore all eyes today were on DON COSSACK ever since he sluiced up in the mud over 2miles 3 furlongs in Naas. I'd say Powers Odds compiler won't get any Xmas Bonus as he priced up DON COSSACK at 6/4 last night and ZAIDPOUR at 4/5 (lasted 4 minutes).
The trip was always going to be the bogey here for DON COSSACK who looks an out and out stayer. The former Eddie Hales inmate looked awesome in Naas and the form had been franked,however conditions weren't as testing here today and Navan is not as taxing as Naas.
RORY O MOORE was an unconsidered 25/1 chance despite an impressive 10L pillar to post win in a modest Cork Bumper. Prior to that he'd run in 5 Bumpers beaten an aggregate of 112 Lenghts. So where has the vast improvement come from. Will he be snapped up by Gigginstown House Stud on the back of this,so highly do they rate their horse. He is a full brother to Aland Islands who has won twice for Tim Vaughan and is owned by JP McManus,so what price he races in JP's colours next time. By all accounts he was very backward last year and too immature to do himself justice. But he travelled like a serious horse here and did too in Cork so was he the moral winner.
DON COSSACK might be aimed at The Curragh Bumper now or else left off,but he'll make some novice chaser in time,who knows they might bypass the hurdling route. But he's a 3 mile chaser waiting to happen.
The huge gap back to the 3rd suggests the front two are a quality pair of National Hunt horses,the cynics will argue that they beat a few mares( Shu Lewis4th Thynetocatcher 5th )and and a horse who couldn't win in Kilbeggan(Bridgets Pet).
Time will tell !

Nice detailed post.Stowaways love heavy ground,i don`t have the stats but they all seem to love it.
Cheers,yeah heavy ground seems to be ideal for his progeny. I do think we've seen two exciting horses. RORY O MOORE has done a fair bit of racing already but seems to be a new horse this term !
That was some pace throughout,they'll surely run it into the ground if that's the modus operandi from now on with Rory O Moore,on a side note the winner had a hard enough race there that didn't have to happen.
There was very little if any improvement and nothing exceptional in Rory O' Moore's run yesterday. This is a typical "over the top" post from S.B. Rory O' Moore was given a very soft lead and took advantage of it. Will he be snapped up by Gigginstown House Stud on the back of this,so highly do they rate their horse ? Answer...............NO! ,so what price he races in JP's colours next time? Answer............. 500/1. A little less of the clichés and better understanding of the form book will help you.
I wouldn't be getting carried away with DON COSSACK just yet. The way he is being campaigned could ruin what potentially is a very good horse. He got a very hard race yesterday for such a young horse and lets hope we don't see him until this time next year.

Good read SB, I have to agree that there was something good about ROM yest, Cork was easy lead alright and possibly to an extent Nav but it def took a fair horse to maintain that gallop, the time looks very respectable, possible the ground wasn't as searching as anticipated by the jockeys due to the frost. i think and hope the patronizing comments of The Gootche prove folly but its only opinions at the end of the day, mine is DC will be top drawer a lot better than ROM but two very useful prospects.

I must question if those mentioned can be considered 'top class' (bar Dunguib of course).
The "Drumba Loo Fan Club" is much smaller these days, as he has yet to live up the previous hype ! and the other two (as underlined) have only 9 wins between them (though one was a novice grade 3 mares event). Classy - yes, but not top class.
In fact some of the horses that have come 2nd in the 'Glen Dimplex' are top class (note: Luska Lad).
Thankfully, DON COSSACK is in the care of the Giggs operation so put Cheltenham 2013 in your horse tracker !

"The other horse is no slouch and is two years older, he's a fair horse in his own right.
"We all want winners at Cheltenham but I don't think that bumper is the be-all-and-end-all for him. A couple of years down the road he could be anything so we're going to mind him.
"The Rockview Bumper at the Curragh (in May) could be his next run, it's very valuable, and then he'll go novice hurdling next season - he won't jump a hurdle in public this year.

Absolutely terrible ride by Nina, along with the rest.
Gave the horse a pretty hard ride....a ride that it didnt need to have.
Just as well the horse was good enough to get nina out of the sh1te!

The Gotchee has a history when it comes to Stamford Bridge and himself and a few others were responsible for driving Stamford Bridge away from the forum.I know who I would rather read and it isnt the Gotchee.
I agree with murphys stroke,Stamford bridge is a very knowledgable poster,the gotchee is a clueless argumentative bolloxxx who has the needle with Stamford because he used to get recognition when he posted regularly before,while the gotchees contributions have always been treated with disdain and deservedly so.Whatever Stamford would say then the gotchee is going to disagree,he's just looking for an argument basically .
It is very disappointing that neither murphys stroke or mincer11 could offer an opinion on the title of this thread and instead chose to engage in a personal and unprovoked attack. Why bother replying if thats all you have to offer. Disappointing but not surprising.
FWIW I agree with the title of the post and that is that the horses improved form is fairly dramatic.I also agree with the gotchee in so far as I'd be amazed if anybody wanted to buy him for big money.His style of running would lead me to believe that he will always have a hard race and that should take it's toll and also he is unlikely to be afforded such a lead again in a race as he is alot more exposed now and the opposition are going to be alive to him from now on .Saying all that there is always the feeling that the gotchee is going to beg to differ with Stamford bridge no matter what he says.I agree with murphys stroke too in that I would much rather read Stamford bridges offerings than the gotchee
step up in trip when he goes hurdling might mean such forceful tactics might not always be neccessary, worse buys out there I'd have thought. He'd have to have a fair amount of natural ability to do what he did there, Oscars well and Brave Inca are examples of horses that didn't just click right away. He might be better value than a few of those expensive pointers maybe, ha

, just thinking he might be a nicer horse than people might think. Don Cossack looked very good though, bit like Bold Optimist last Christmas who we haven't seen since.

The horse is flattered by the run as he slipped the field,he is ground dependant, has had injury problems and is rising seven.I think he will be hard to sell.Don Cossack is the opposite, to me he was sensational to make up the ground he did and the way he did it marks him out as an exceptional horse.I can`t remember seeing a better four year old bumper horse maybe Moon Man from years back.

I feel somewhat connected now so reve, nice when horses pleasantly surprise as its usually the other way around.
I see where you're coming from wildman, not sure of his breeding, I'll check but these NH types can turn inside out from 6 to seven and he just might be a bit of value for a horse with form in a Grade 2 bumper. I saw a bit of improvement in him from race to race.

I suppose what I'm getting at is that it can be tough to find value in horses, but particularly tough when one goes with the crowd. Sometimes it can pay to be a bit unconventional.

Stowaway and a Turtle Island mare, should be penty of winter ground oppertunities in Ireland for him anyway.
no kilkenny wildman. sharks woman certainly doesnt run the show, shark does! youll notice shark has a lot of stowaway horses and is always trying to promote stowaway in interviews...thats because his father in law (who is rory omoores trainer, the jockeys dad and his missus dad) owns stowaway

interesting to find that out reve, but in Western Leader and Hidden Cyclone the sire has treated him well in return. Western leader was an awful shame. He seems to be going really softly softly with HC, I think he is the one horse left to run that might just shake up the Arkle market.

although a bog might help if he stays really strong as he seemed to jump out of it very well the last day.

I did notice he had a few Stowaways and they all seem to thrive on heavy ground.
The Shark worked as a horsebox driver for Tony Mullins, branched out on his own and managed to take some of Tony Mullins best owners along with him.Sharks finest hour was buying the horse from Charles Byrnes winning the Kerry National with it as few would improve horses out of there and he did on ground he hated.

Rocketfingers it is not a tip as such in that i don`t know where he is running just one i took a note of at Punchestown.When i tip one i put the horses name as the thread with the results that have so sickened you.Five horses put up in that manner all five won, Brave Beauty winning at 8/1 in Downpatrick was one i forgot to mention.
Gimmeabreak made a fairly cutthroat assessment of Irish racing focussing on the area of beginners chases on a recent thread and I found myself agreeing with a lot of it to be honest, it was really pretty salient. Have a look if you can.

Yep on this forum, think it might be on the Paddy power thread, hink it related to why bookies don't price up non handicap races in Ireland early morning.
I was in Cork last Sunday week for this one's bumper run. I always make a point of looking at them in the paddock for a bumper. One learn's more there than in any form book.
He had a great step to him, so I chanced £2 at 16 on him. It wasn't taken but I had it at Take betfair sp at the off.
Of course we all know now the lad in charge of turning it into "in running" must have nipped out for a few minutes and the race was suspended mid race. I cancelled it just before suspension. On Monday evening I rang them and explained I hadn't got paid. They said they would refund my £2 but I said I had cancelled so hadn't lost it but I wanted the betfair sp. About an hour later they rang me to offer £29.74. It showed up as "Goodwill" It was the only Goodwill I got that night SB as your team Chelsea beat mine Man City!!

Lovely collection of players at Man City, Silva is a gem, best midfielder in the world at the minute whoever it was in charge of recruitment at real Madrid should have a good look at themselves as he is exactly the type of player to take on Barca with.
In Balotelli, Aguero, Silva, Nasri and Toure they have a quintuplet of supremely technichally gifted footballers and it is astonishingly inept that they didn't progress in Europe. There is a mentality issue there but sheer talent will out and they should win the league.

a small bit soapp mentioned city and I'm a bitter as I had a bet on all the English teams to qualify in the CL, I was also restricted to just the 4 pints tonight because everyone wanted to go home

Ruby was mullered by the faller on Allure and lost a lot of ground and was trying not to destroy the horse in the finish,at the end of the day he's not perfect but about as good as it'll ever get.

Huge reputation at home has ALLURE OF ILLUSION..They were very worried about the ground in that Punchestown maiden hurdle..Clearly unlucky that day ,although credit THE JOXER he did a lot of runing to reel in tearaway leader RORY O DWYER (Was far too free)..I'd say both THE JOXER and ALLURE OF ILLUSION are well above average novices..
given good ground later in the spring I'd expect ALLURE OF ILLUSION to win a decent race..He's high up the pecking order.. I was on THE JOXER that day so was relieved to see Willies horse brought to a virtual standstill...
