I presume questions were asked about this spectacular improvement in 'form' ....
would love to hear any answers.

The Stewards held an enquiry to consider the apparent improvement in form of the winner, LIMPOPO TOM (IRE), ridden by Jimmy Fortune and trained by Paul W Flynn, which had never previously been placed. They interviewed the trainer, who stated that the gelding had benefited from running on an all-weather surface and in handicap company. Having heard his evidence they forwarded his explanation to the British Horseracing Authority so that the previous performances of LIMPOPO TOM (IRE) could be reviewed.

Thanks BJG -delighted to hear it . There must be some follow-up action here.

Checking the record-one sees that in its 8 previous races the average SP was 33/1 and average distance beaten 25L.
Then when heavily punted he sluices in by 6L. This kind of thing makes a mockery of racing -I know it goes on in subtle form but this couldn't have been more blatant .
No surprise if more and more people are drifting away from betting on horses and finding better outlets for their punting banks.

So we can take it then the horse will never run on turf again because he could barely lift his feet when he's ran on it previously, horse arrives on the all weather for the first time and this previous plodder was transformed into pegasus.

Watch this space!.

Three runs on the flat on soft / heavy ground to get handicapped and then runs in a handicap on a fast all weather surface having shown a flicker of ability on better ground in bumpers , it's not rocket science now is it ?

We bow to your superior knowledge Stellar, we must all be blind to miss that Pink Elephant in the form book that was staring us in the face.

Don't I know that wildman but stellar seems to think it was obvious, what are you actually admiring wildman?.

The fact they were able to put a long term plan into motion and have the horse right on the day and most importantly collect,is that not something we would all like to do.

Wow!!, they stopped a horse for ages in turn hiding his true ability, picked out a p!ss poor race on the aw then got the horse fit, the stuff of rocket science.

Loads try the same and loads fail,if it was as easy as you seem to think it would happen every day.

It is easy wildman its called patience, and a patient owner often helps too!.

They concealed their horses ability and then backed it on different ground, that is far more honourable than the gentlemen on here laying horses they know cannot win.

You have a point there wildman.

That Navan maiden that Hidden Universe won  is working out well with a number of subsequent winners in handicap company coming out of it most notably Shake the Bucket who finished alongside Limpopo and who won a Dundalk handicap on his handicap debut at 18/1 with a not dissimilar profile to Limpopo ,i.e handicapped on soft bog , running on a fast surface first time up in a handicap , the oldest trick in the book!

Racecourse gossip at Fairyhouse had us all backing it if we wanted.  only got 9/4 but a winner is a winner.
