Dermot Weld has withdrawn Unaccompanied from Fairyhouse’s Hatton’s Grace Hurdle on Sunday, preferring instead to keep her fresh for Leopardstown at Christmas.

The filly was yesterday among seven five-day acceptors for the two-and-a-half mile trip, but Weld has since though better of it.

“I’ve decided to keep her at two miles and she’ll run at Leopeardstown over Christmas,” he told the Irish Times today. “I don’t want to run her yet over two-and-a -half miles on soft ground.

“She’s in great form and we’ll run over Christmas.”

Willie Mullins, therefore, is responsible for four of the remaining six for the Grade One race. The County Carlow trainer’s foursome is headed by Thousand Stars, winner of the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown recently.

Mourad, fourth behind stablemate Hurricane Fly in this race 12 months ago, could try again, while Mikael D’Haguenet and Final Approach complete the Mullins quartet.

Colm Murphy’s talented mare Voler La Vedette is likely to attempt to follow up her recent Lismullen Hurdle success at Navan, while Edward O’Grady’s progressive The Real Article is also scheduled to run.

Voler De La Vedette was third in this race last year and Murphy reports her to be ready for the challenge.

“She’ll go there all being well. She’s in good form,” said the County Wexford trainer yesterday. “It’s a good race and she’ll be there if it goes well in the meantime. We’ll just keep her ticking over until the weekend.”

Paul Nolan was on with Robbie Irwin on the RTE sports news a few minutes ago.

He admits Alpha Ridge has been dasappointing over fences but has had genuine excuses. He must have some sort of chance as he is a mudlark and a second season novice.

He thinks highly of Shinrock Paddy. He got chinned on only his second outing over the big fences by lanbro who he said Willie Mullins rates very highly and is well worth his chance in the drinmore.

Thousand Stars out of Hatton's Grace Hurdle

By Jessica Lamb racingpost.com
EVEN-MONEY favourite Thousand Stars was on Friday not among the five declared for Sunday's Grade 1 Bar One Racing Hatton's Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse.

Trainer Willie Mullins withdrew the Ladbrokes.com Morgiana Hurdle winner, but will be represented by County Hurdle hero Final Approach, Mikael D'Haguenet and Mourad.

The Real Article and top mare Voler La Vedette, who finished second to Solwhit last year, complete the line-up.

Thousand Stars and Unaccompanied were the only withdrawals from the Hatton's Grace, while Dylan Ross, as short as 7-1, was the only horse missing from the final declarations of the Grade 1 Bar One Racing Royal Bond Novice Hurdle.

Six will face the starter for that event, the first Grade 1 on the card, with Robbie McNamara booked to ride Galileo's Choice for Dermot Weld and Ruby Walsh for the Mullins-trained Sous Les Cieux. Paul Townend takes the ride on stablemate Midnight Game.

Six also line up for the Bar One Racing Drinmore Novice Chase, with only Last Instalment and Gift Of Dgab from the Gigginstown House Stud team withdrawn.

Barry Geraghty has been booked to ride the Paul Nolan-trained Shinrock Paddy and Paul Carberry rides stablemate Alpha Ridge
