has willie mullins made any form of annoucment explaining why he misses the race...seems strange not to let the public whats going on with such a high profile horse.

Willie Mullins has briefed members of the press at Fairyhouse today regarding the non-participation of Hurricane Fly in the Morgiana Hurdle at Punchestown on Sunday.
Mullins said “I took Hurricane Fly out this morning because I’m just not happy with him. “A good few of mine have been backward recently and I was conscious of ante-post betting so I decided not to wait until Friday to withdraw him. He’ll not run until I’m happy with him again and at the moment, I’m aiming to bring him back at Christmas rather than the Hatton’s Grace Hurdle at Fairyhouse on December 4.” In other words not a thing wrong with the horse, never had any intention of running just wanted to frighten away the opposition for my other 2 entries. |

Delighted it's nothing serious. Willie used the exact same excuse last year: "We are just not happy with him at the moment and the delay will unfortunately mean we will have to miss the Dobbins and Madigans Hurdle this weekend." 8 NOV 2010.

I would say by waiting until afer declaration time to announce his withdrawl that he was hoping to get an easy with his two other entries. Just my opinion.

If that was the case, would you believe that he is wrong?
Seems like quite a smart move on behalf of the trainer, although the only two that seem to be missing are The Real Article and Unaccompanied. |
