As reported on RP.com this evening Breon Corcoran is set to leave what is effectively his family business (his dad was one of the 3 founding members of PP) to take up the role as Betfair CEO. Make no mistake this is the biggest thing to happen the industry since Betfair itself came on the scene. Time to go long Betfair shares guys. He is the most serious operator you are ever likely to encounter. He is currently COO of PP having previously held the role of Director Of Online, a role he still holds under the guise of COO. As much as people will question what will happen with Betfair the same questions will be asked about PP. I would say there is a fair chance that the current CEO of their Australian Operations (CB) will be repatriated to Dublin to replace Corcoran. Some very interesting times ahead.

BETFAIR are poised to announce Paddy Power chief operating officer Breon Corcoran as their new chief executive, according to reports on Saturday night.
Corcoran has been among the favourites for the post since the announcement in June of the departure of David Yu, Betfair's chief executive.
An announcement confirming Corcoran's appointment is expected to be made to the stock exchange next week.
Corcorcan was promoted to the role of Paddy Power's chief operating officer in August last year when handed responsibility for online business, Australian operations and other development opportunities.
He has been with Paddy Power since 2001 having previously worked for JP Morgan and Bankers Trust as well as a number of start-ups. He is a graduate of Trinity College, Dublin.
Yu joined Betfair in 2001 as chief technology officer, and joined the board in 2006.
He oversaw the stock market flotation in 2010 but has since had to contend with difficulties from a slipping share price and the departure of a number of senior personnel.
Betfair's share price closed on Friday at 769.50p, valuing the company at £824m but down from a float price of £13.

I would say there is a fair chance that the current CEO of their Australian Operations (CB) will be repatriated to Dublin to replace Corcoran.
I'd make that a big price although I have to say I wasn't aware that Breon was a son of John Corcoran so maybe ur better informed than me! |

thinking about it there's no way he can be John Corcoran's son, he's young enough to be his grandchild I'd say - i'd take evens he's no relation

I have just checked the companies registration office. JC is 83 and BC is 40.
