Hopefully plenty more follow him. The whole thing has turned into a complete farce and is completely going to overshadaw the excellent fare at Ascot on Saturday. Just shows how clueless the BHA are to introduce it this week and not wait till after Champions day. I dont think there is a worse run organisation in the world, a bunch of unknowledgable yes men who care more about what the minority thinks than keeping the people within the industry happy.

Heads should roll but wont of course - well done Richard Hughes, spot on for me anyway

A 15 day ban for hitting 2 horses a total of 2 times too many which forces him to miss the Breeders Cup, an absolute load of sh1t!!

Well said BJG and fair play to hughesy for taking a stand. I find it incredible the jockeys havent organised some sort of protest already. They have the perfect oppurtunity this weekend to hold a gun to the BHAs head with big weekend racing at Ascot and Cheltenham

And as for John McCrirrick on SSN just then, wat a joke of a man and a disgrace to the sport which he milks. A failed punter, a failed bookie and now just another one of the long list of gravy trainers.

fair play hughes these whip rules are a load of nonsense me thinks you'l be the first of many.

A failed punter, a failed bookie, basically a fat clueless ignorant kount who i wouldn't even piss on if he was on fire

I thought the Turf Club has been bad but in reality the BHA have really trumped them on this
Report tobywong. October 13, 2011 10:06 PM BST
they def have it in for hughes anyway

For a long time now stewards have been bullying jockeys and sadly the worst offenders are ex jockeys.
Racing survived the fifties sixties and seventies with virtually no suspensions and if i had my way no jockey would ever be suspended.

I've had a quite timid post pulled about five times now!

Seems i'm not allowed to offer an opinion.
Report wildmanfromborneo October 13, 2011 10:38 PM BST
Topfarrier i read that post and have no idea why it would be censored,it seemed very reasonable to me.
When i think of some of the vile posts that scar this forum it makes me angry that a perfectly legitimate post can get banned, the fact that i agreed with every line is irrelevant.

Hope he does not regret snap decision to hand in licence, the money was clearly down on this one (backed throughout day and just before the off) and he gave it the full treatment but did not get up.
However came in for a lot of criticism previous night at Kempton for his ride on a drifting fav (Available) who could have got second with a bit more persuasion although its accepted he would not have won

Has put himself out on the chopping block and I hope for his sake BHA don’t take a strong stance on this one as he could be out for a while they are silly enough to do so

One of the main problems with McCririck is that he spouts his nonsense on the TV. Now there may be some that say he is entitled to his opinion.
But he spouts his nonsense without fear of contradiction. He does this all the time, when is there anyone (just like last night) that is there to give their opposing views ?
When you have someone doing this who is perceived (by some) to be "the voice of the punter-Racing" without any redress, then anyone watching who has no insight into the world of Horse Racing, will believe this eejit is talking sense.
So by all means give him his platform, but if you do, have someone else on who can counteract his 'arguement' otherwise it is just giving one view, which in any society, isn't healthy, and just makes the issues worse...

a vile individual eho id be glad never to hear or see again.hughes is a supreme gentleman jockey and horse man.to be mentioning him and mccririck in the the same discussion is doing a disservice to richard..

I dont have the hatred of McCririck that most here have but agree with Guinness2dear by giving him free rein some think that is racings official position.

Hughes wants to go training soon enough, given everything, I don't think he'll be riding in 2 years anyway.
Report workrider October 14, 2011 5:49 PM BST
i agree neill ...his weight has always been a problem....
Report neill d October 14, 2011 6:05 PM BST
I remember hi saying that he didn't want to leave it too late to go training as well, and Dessie always mentions it when asked about him. I'd say he'll be anabsolutely brialliant trainer as well.
Report yorker789 October 14, 2011 6:49 PM BST
Dont agree with him,the whip rule changes maybe be daft but taking your ball home and taking of strikes isn't right either.
Report MJK October 14, 2011 7:01 PM BST
Don't agree with the whip rules but can no one see the irony of Hughes, the biggest culprit of not riding out for a place EVER, complaining of not being able to use the whip more?
Report GANT007 October 14, 2011 7:05 PM BST
He is not complaining about not being able to use the whip more...........ATR have interviewed him.....check it out.
