Best we could have hoped for in fairness.

If we were to pick it ourselves we could not have done a better job.

Great Draw!Cool. Are we away for the first leg?
Report db1974 October 13, 2011 12:55 PM BST
I couldn't back Ireland to win away to anyone

Estonia's 5 home games in the qualifiers were

Estonia 2-1 Faroe Islands
Estonia 1-2 Italy
Estonia 4-1 Northern Ireland
Estonia 1-1 Serbia
Estonia 0-1 Slovenia

That's not a bad record.
Report silvergreaser October 13, 2011 12:57 PM BST
UEFA marked the Irish and Estonia balls because they were terrified if Ireland got anyone else bar Estonia the whole nation would be screaming the draw was fixed so they fixed it for Ireland instead.
Report pbunter October 13, 2011 12:57 PM BST
Ireland away 1st leg home for 2nd...couldnt have hoped for better.expect ireland to score away.do away goals count as 2 if its a draw...i presume so

Damien Richardson said that it would be better if Ireland hadn't been seeded as we play better against the good sides. Wonder if he punts on Betfair ?

Now  I know feck all about soccer but take given and dunne out of the irish team and it would be touch and go between Ireland and Shamrock Rovers to win the league of ireland ( sorry workrider ) ..How he can leave talented irishmen like seamus coleman at home and pick garden knomes like glen whelan  is beyond me ........
We defo got the best draw allright but the tie has got penalty shoot out written all over it

dinglemick,Trapp won't go the games to watch "new" talent coming through,he has fixed ideas about players and will never ever think of a change,as I said on another thread Whelan would have to be either hospitalised or suspended for Trapp to drop him.

Kevin Kilbane has been a great player for us but should be retired from the National squad and has no business being in the starting 11 which he would be in only for injury.

In Trapps mind Coleman is a right back and he doesn't have a spot for one of those.

Wes Houlihan remids Trapp of Andy Reid so he'll never get a call Grin

Yes you could not ask for a better draw. We got the draw we wanted and Estonia are saying same. We were probably given Estonia just to make up for the Hand of Henry in Paris. A fella at work was saying this all f**king day yesterday ''they'll give us the Estonians just to make up for it'', 11/4 he got on it.
Report Roger De Bris October 13, 2011 3:39 PM BST
if we can't beat Estonia there's no hope for us.

If we can't beat Estonia we don't deserve to be there. I think we'll win and go thru in front our our own fans in the Aviva. I am going to go with that this will be the best sporting atmosphere ever seen in Ireland as the Aviva is a proper cauldron of a stadium and seems to hold all the noise is which is quite impressive.
Report Temlett October 13, 2011 5:23 PM BST
Best sporting atmosphere?

The stadium will be over half full of "supporters" that have not turned up at any of the qualifiers, but will jump on the bandwagon now.
Report Rocketfingers October 13, 2011 5:30 PM BST
There was a great atmosphere there the last night, and there was 45,000 fans at it, so if you hang on to your ticket you're guaranteed a ticket for the Estonia match. So that will ensure against that thankfully Grin

Good to see the FAI looking after the hardcore first !
Report zipifried October 13, 2011 5:34 PM BST

Holland have lost ground on Spain in the FIFA world rankings following a 3-2 defeat to Sweden in a Euro 2012 qualifier earlier this month.

The Dutch still occupy second place behind Spain, who recorded a 23rd consecutive home victory, beating Scotland in their final qualifying match.

But Bert van Marwijk’s side suffered the biggest points drop of any nation in the rankings – losing 146.

The Republic of Ireland, who face Estonia in a qualification play-off next month, are up four places to 25th, Scotland managed to move up one place to 51st despite missing out on qualification after their defeat to Spain, while Northern Ireland dropped 14 places to 84th.

The biggest gain was made by Wales, who ended their Euro 2012 qualifiers on a high with victories over Switzerland and Bulgaria. Gary Speed’s team earned 245 points, enough to move them up 45 places to 45th.

England moved up one place to seventh, while Greece nudged up three places to sit in eighth after booking their qualification for the Euro 2012 finals in Poland and Ukraine next summer.
