that sounds pretty perfect.....Turkey would be a nightmare though
By:
what everyone's preference as to who we draw ?
By:
I'd hope for Estonia to be honest, although as bad as we are I wouldn't fear any of them.

FT: France 1-1 Bosnia so Bosnia confirmed as the last playoff team. They are seeded too.
I'd be happy with anyone bar Turkey Ironically we'll be the team that the 4 low seeds will want to get. |
By:
RTE are pathetic. I'm praying for France to get an equaliser, and we are already top seeds.

Thanks db - was wondering where the rankings were. UEFA site only up to 7th September

so if we can get one of 4 from czech, turkey, monten, or estonia...assuming czechs have not passed out bosnia in the rankings.
estonia and monten are the weakest, as weak as us and importantly a bit like armenia tonight, never been in a real qualifying do or die match before and likely to freeze. i watched a good bit of turkey/germany on friday and there game tonight, they are not a good team, it would be a borefest and of course the trip to hell as well, they are like us under pressure from the fans, the players are not as good as the previou vintage. now the team to avoid is czech, forget about the bull that they are ageing, they were excellent last month in a friendly against belarus, simply didnt try against spain, saved themsevles for tonight and pummelled a fair lithuanian outfit. they are most definitely the in form lower seed(if they remain a lower seed). i would make rep about 6/4 to overcome czech, 11/10 overcome turkey, 5/6 to beat monten, 8/13 to defeat estonia. |

confirmed to be seeded, another roller-coaster on its way
By:
Lithuania can't be that fair - they lost to Liechtenstein in the Qualifiers
By:
Where has it been confirmed?
By:
well done db, the lads in that sports department in Montrose are an absolute **** joke, excuse the language, but it is true. Whether this has been confirmed or not, I don't know, but you'd think one of their researchers would know the rules. db certainly seems to have more of an idea than the info transmetted to the boys on the telly.
Are these people even interested in sport?, whether we are seeded are not is probably the crucial factor in deciding whether we qualify. |
By:
2205 The FAI have confirmed via Twitter that Ireland will be seeded for the play-off draw.
By:
How would you expect rte to know. Sure they where reporting the spanish and other game in the group as finished when there was ten minutes left. Rte are a shambles.
By:
They couldnt even agree whether the seeded teams play their home leg last or whether its a draw to see who plays at home first.......Not that i know but its not my job to know, i pay 160 odd quid a year for them to tell me. The research team must be absolutely under resourced or completley incompetent
By:
Plenty of lads here could research an international soccer match on their own, these guys have either very little interest or are just a bit thick.
By:
They just don't bother doing any research. Giles does not know any player outside the premership. At least Dunphy for all his faults does actually watch some football.
By:
Remember the 1'oclock news bulletin where the guy called John Higgins Alex 'Hurricane' Higgin's son, Jesus Christ, Ron Burgundy wouldn't do that, how in the name of God do they get through the interview phase? It must be either blackmail, nepotism, bribery or a very swanky address.
By:
That is true anfeild, Gilesy has lost his gra for football it seems to me, needs to be paid to watch games now, but surely someone should be in his ear with the info.
By:
theyre not the only culprits....Newstalk sports bulletin read out by some lass in the afternoon on Saturday:
"Irelands hopes of reaching a world cup semi final were dealt a severe blow today after suffering defeat to Wales" Down but not quite out eh? Maybe there were two wales players wearing no 7 jerseys and George hamiltons on the case |
By:
, that is more poor use of language, but yeah, those with a passing interest would have been looking forward to the second leg. |
By:
SEEDED: Portugal, Croatia, Ireland, Czech Rep.
UNSEEDED: Bosnia-Herzegovina, Turkey., Estonia, Montenegro Hope to get Estonia. Turkey the obvious one to avoid. Big advantage getting seeded. |
By:
That goal by France really cost Bosnia there. They went from automatic qualification to 2nd-seed in the playoffs.
They are useful enough too, wouldn't like to get them at all. |
By:
I fancy our chances against anyone except the Turks. No doubt if we get the Turks again, they will try pulling the same stunts as they did last time out...
By:
We should really leave Gilesey alone...Leave him to his coddle in peace!
By:
well looking at who is seeded, would france not have been seeded if they had not got a result ? then who us or the Czech Republic ? czech jumped above bosnia with their win i am guessing, did they jump above us also ?
By:
7th seed Croatia
11th seed Portugal 13th seed Ireland 15th seed Czech Republic 18th seed Turkey 19th seed Bosnia and Herzegovina 35th seed Montenegro 37th seed Estonia come on rte ts not rocket science |
By:
Dunphy is a grade A clown, keeps on harping on about how Coleman should be playing and he has a point but you would think Coleman is a god that way he goes on about him, Coleman if you have watched his games this season has played quite poorly. Still even Coleman playing poorly is better than McGeady even if he is a right back.
By the way Dunphy was fuming tonight, looks like he had beet Armenia. |
By:
you think McGeady went to Russia just for money ;)
By:
How do you know Dunphy was fuming if you where at the game and only got back at 1.39 according to your post on the Armenia thread?
![]() ![]() ![]() Anyhow i would not fancy Ireland against any of them bar Estonia. |
By:
Lol premier you never heard of sky+?
By:
Can beat Montenegro or Estonia
Cant beat Bosnia or Turkey In my opinion ![]() |
By:
can beat all 4
By:
Would prefer Estonia,Montenegro,Turkey in that order and least Bosnia.

Assuming Doyle + Keane Out
---------------Given Coleman---Dunne---St Ledger----O Shea Duff---McCarthy---Andrews---Walters -------------Long----Cox Subs: Keeper O Dea Kelly Whelan Best Mcgeady Hunt Get it sorted Trap ![]() |
By:
Im sure i've forgotten 1 or 2
Fahey maybe |
By:
Duff is useless , no chance Trap will bring in Mccarthy, coleman or Fahey. It will be same team with Long strangely overlooked again. The only team we can beat over 2 legs is Estonia. This seems like the worst team in decades but we are ranked 15th ??? and will probably qualify and get embarrassed in finals but who cares as long a we get there.
