Both meetings link of signal the end of the flat and the start of the jumps. I've not seen a price you for Minsk but would expect him to be a warm favourite and win tomorrow. A lot depends on the ground at Limerick but I'm hopeful For Bill can go close. Did anyone take the 12/1 earlier in the week?

Only the end of the Flat at the Curragh. Still a couple of turf meetings left at Naas, Navan and Leopardstown. Great jump racing over two days at Punchestown meeting next week, the season really kicks in then.

I notice that Minsk runs in Barry Connells colours for the first time tomorrow .......I would imagine that he was bought as a possible triumph hurdle horse .....anybody have any idea what he paid for him ???? and who his new trainer might  be ???......

I'm tryin to round up a few to go, encountering a few of the excuses BJG is saying, all we do is follow owners around to see if they are backing their horses anywayLaugh, pretty naieve like, we have it on good authority that they like the buzz of cash in hand like.

Report Princesse D'Anjou October 9, 2011 4:11 PM BST
Yeah - not sure if it's going through the card or riding six on a card he's the second to do.

The latter would be easier today as no divides etc but an amazing accomplishment none the less.  If he keeps that up it'll throw the title race wide open too - he wasn't far behind Doc last year!

i was out for a while and i m not aftertining it but i backed jills ballet at the curragh ...simply because i couldn t understand why it had won its last two races and gone up a total of only 8lbs Shocked....in particular it got only 3lbs the last day for winning a 17 runner C&D  handicap ShockedShocked......is there something i m missing here or was the handicapper not doing his jobs ....she wins today with distances of 5L ,6L , 2 1/2 L

I think what a charm will take all the beating in the last at the curragh to give the oxx team a 4 timer  ..... i saw john oxx being interviewed at listowel the last day when she won the listed race ..... he didn t overly fancy her that day because she takes a lot of work to get fit and he hadn t done a whole lot ..... that tells me she ll have even come on for that run so defo worth backing at 11/4

Report soapp October 10, 2011 6:37 PM BST
A very nice crowd turned up at heaquarters for their final meeting of the year.

Race 1) Call to Battle (9/2) Well backed from 10/1 on track. This one was always prominent under young curtis and won fair and square. The Chronicle boys took a 10 grand e/w bet on the winner at 10/1 and were seen scattering the ring laying it off. I Have a Dream the 7/2 jolly was never mapped.

Race 2) Homecoming Queen (5/2) Joseph O'Brien has a clock in his head and made all for a very easy win. Sinndarr's old man, a shrewd judge encouraged me to back it, he having backed it at 7/2. Swerve the 15/8 fav had only won a maiden at Listowel and this was a step too far for her.

Race 3) Jills Ballet (8/1) Fairly light in the market this was one of a succesion of easy winners on the day making all and having the race won two out. The well backed jolly Sadler's Mark trailed in last. No doubt the trainer will report something wrong to the stewards in the coming days.

Race 4) Eton Rifles (5/4f) Well backed on course from 7/4 Murtagh was always going well and pushed the button at the one pole to win comfortably. Runner up in the Ayr Gold Cup this was the form horse.

Race 5) Minsk (4/1f) The plot horse this one absolutely hosed up under young Sid James whose claim was superflous to say the least. I was told after he won LTO to back him for this race and sindarr's pop told me he had taken the 13/2 the night before. A 200k purchase by Barry Connell this one now goes to the Dessie Hughes yard.

Race 6) Atlantic Swing (11/2) Plenty well backed in this race this one was bringing up the treble for the Oxx yard. It was always going like a winner. The fav Azores (5/2) ran well to be runner up overcoming a long absence from the track.

Race 7) Sapphire (5/2jf) Well touted all day, the class horse of the race coming back from a Group 2 Pat Smullen always had her in the catbird seat and once he pushed the button at the one pole the race was over. The other joint Fav What A Charm blew her chance by running much too freely.

So Murtagh leads Smullen by five with about 50 races to go it would be a feather  in his cap to win this season  considering all the Weld winners at Galway.
Report punchestown October 11, 2011 2:39 PM BST
Nice review soapp,Eton Rifles a huge gamble on both sides of the Irish Sea,would have loved to have seen the scatter as described before race 1 Laugh
