How did Mc Guinness do? im debating whether to vote for him or not Confused
Report Vubiant October 2, 2011 7:59 PM BST
Didn't listen  as I'm trying to minimise my exposure to this presidential circus drivel.
However in view of Dunphy's openly declared support for McG  one might not be surprised at some partial 'chairmanship'.
One exchange I did hear on Newstalk a week or so ago concerned Dunphy and Fintan O'Toole and it was frankly amazing to hear Damien Kiberd as he allowed Dunphy free rein and attacked O'Toole incessantly .
Maybe it's just me but I thought chairmen were supposed to be neutral and even-handed when in charge of a 'debate '.

I know he has history Vubiant but genuinely didn't think he was biased in this debate. Mitchell basically took a fully loaded Revolver to his lingering hopes. McGuinness kind of let him rant, he dismantled Phil Hogans point of him scaring away foreign investment extremely well, but didn't impose himself enough imho. Hard to though maybe given Mitchells behaviour.

O'Toole is a headcase in  fairness though. Have no problem seeing Dunphy have a go at him even if it is in favour of MMG

Interesting side point -a lecturer in a third level college told me lately that in a group of 15 first year students -not one had heard of
Martin McGuinness and only a few had heard of Norris.
Did I hear someone recently suggest that 16 year olds be given the vote ?!

I thought Mitchell was a disgrace this morning...couldn't believe he started to Call Eamon a "disgrace" and "biased". I be only to delighted if he doesn't get the job after that.

Gay was doing all the mud slinging and hoping for some of it to stick and then when MCG went to defend it he lost the plot and was ranting and raving like a mad man. Pity we didn't get to hear what has Mitchell done in his career other than take a massive wage from the public coffers and be part of the gravy train in Europe.

If only they let Pat Cox instead of this buffoon i would have voted for him above Martin MCG

Dana is nice.And she's 50/1Cool[:D]

Mitchell has ZERO chance of being President. He was purposefully picked by FG as they want MD Higgins and didn't want to split the vote letting another in.

I have no doubt that Mitchells tactics today were pre-planned.A nasty little prick.
Report freddiek October 2, 2011 11:05 PM BST
amen to that. him and his brother both toe-rags

Rubyisgodinthesaddle...You quite rightly say Gay Mitchell was on the European gravy train but then you wreck your point by saying you would have voted for Pat Cox.He is the definition of a European fat cat,a traitor who sold his country down the river, creaking under the weight of his multiple pensions.

Michell dominated muckguiness and dunphy. It looks to me that fg are setting it up for Mick D to win.FG cant win it so the strategy appears to be,to make sure sellouts sf cant either..!

Scooby....You have to admire MMG......he could have chose the route the die hards took and be rolling in money.....diesel, cigarettes and other substances.

One must build with whatever materials are on hand Gant..!
Report Toto82 October 3, 2011 1:40 PM BST
Did FG really want to pick a candidate that had no chance just to let Higgins win?
I thought Mairead McGuinness had a good chance before they chose Michell as their candidate.

At the moment, I think the top 4 in the betting should be
1st - Michael D
2nd - Mary Davis
3rd - David Norris
4th - Sean Gallagher

Mcguinnes, Mitchell and Dana haven't a chance.

Gallagher has come accross about the best of them so far imo, doubt he has much of a chance of winning it though.

Wildman

I know Pat Cox is even a worse gravy train but I always found him a stateman. In such a terrible bunch he is a diamond in the rough in terms of just basic appearace. I always liked him but that could say more about me that him tbhLaugh

The only one blaming our current woes correctly on Europe is Dana and thats why anyone thinking the wrong people are being punished for the European Banks mistakes should vote for Dana.
She is hated by the media and is constantly derided whereas there darling is Norris,He has again become involved in a letter writing campaign this time looking for citizenship for a new lover, these letters were typical of a member of an elite demanding citizenship be conferred on this Algerian simply because he knew him and when he was turned down he turned nasty. He made a speech in the senate threatening to name the names of the people that turned down the application and this form of bullying worked they caved in and granted him citizenship.
Report scoobyknows October 3, 2011 6:50 PM BST
David "The Liberator" Norris is getting a rough ride in the media at the moment, but he comes across as a man who does not mind a rough ride,in fact id say it really gets his juices flowing..!
