Would never have beaten winner , but I gave up hope early on in the race .  Why lie so far out of your ground Seamie ?

Confused mystified by the tactics there, doubt Sarafina backers are too impressed either

And therein lies the reason you use a top-class race jockey as distinct from a stable jockey.

Very odd ride (riding to orders?),the horse is normally up with or close to the pace.

The draw obviously didn't help but there was ample space and time to creep there after the drop in but he sat watching  the fav,all said though appeared to be a spent force at the line as the horses it passed were going backwards.

Second place maybe was possible but the winner on the day was too good.

Have to agree ^^ best horse (on the day) won in my opinion, as much as i think quite a few of the jocks had their mounts way too far back i think the winner would still have won

Pity really for Seamie but as I posed above maybe he was told to drop it in and come with one devastating run in the straight, anybody hear the trainers  (APOB) thoughts post race?,although he usually is happy with everything [:x].

Heffernan is a ten a penny jockey ,a journeyman who will do what he is told, hence his long association with Coolmore.A cocky little man without the ability to back up the high opinion he has of himself.Out of his depth at a track that requires riding in big races.Completely exposed today and it will be a while before he rides in an Arc again. He should stick to bellewstown and clonmel because that's his level

Riding the horse off the pace over the extra two furlongs made perfect sense to me, the horse seems to stop to a virtual walk when he hits the front, cruised into the lead in the slowly run Melbourne cup only to stop as if shot, maybe riding the horse like that yesterday helped the horse finish as close as he did?.

talkin some **** seamie rode the race that best suited the horse from his draw...to sit beside fav and creep into race made prefect sense...just because he had nt the horse on the day to win no need to blame jock,
a horse won in tipp by a dist(ruining handicap mark) should of won by maybe a lenght or two that was a way worse ride than anything in the arc...it wont be mentioned on here tho cos it did nt cost anyone any money...two many docket trowers on here

Even with the best jockey in the world on board I do not think would have beaten the winner .  However the horse was never in the race despite the two stable companion pacemakers ( ? ) both leading the field at different stages .  So maybe the tactics or instructions were wrong  , I thought So You Think would not be discomfited in a big field or by a good gallop , form evidence suggested ability to stay and quicken off a good pace . And other races have proved SYT can battle . But you cant come from 3rd last into the straight unless you have a Nijinsky under you . Nijinsky he aint despite vibes emanating from Ballydoyle at start of the season  suggesting this horse was "different " .

First 3 home were fillies I think , obviously getting allowances .  On TV I did not actually see the winner going past the post , cameraman seemed to think the race concerned the second , third and fourth . Unsatisfactory outcome all round for everyone except the connections of the first 3 .  No big rush for any of the colts for stud I suspect .

Richard Hughes reckons it's a 'good excuse', the old too far back, in the context of actually winning the race, he wasn't even finishing that quickly at all, if he'd asked earlier, he wouldn't even have come home even as well as he did for me. I'd say he is best ridden reasonably prominently over 1m2f and he'll probably win the Champion Stakes. He probably stays 12f but it blunts his acceleration and he just plods rather than quickens, Workforce, STS and Zarkava all won Arcs from just as far back, it is the way to ride class horses in that race usually. Visually, it didn't look great, but few losing rides do really, especially when they are 'fast finishers'.
