it s probably the equivalant of one of us not paying a parking fine and its now going to cost us €80 
i notice john wall of baltinglass, one of the original gaa bookies, has been charged on 5 counts, levied with 12,500 for failure to hold a current betting licence....whats the story with this...financial problems or did someone object to his renewal...evidence suggests he was trading without a licence.
if people are fiddling there tax returns WHY are'nt they before the courts is'it not fraud?

John Wall lost a pile of cash in a failed property venture.
whys he not in jail? a burglar doesnt have the choice of paying back what he stole.
In this country the more you owe the safer you are.........ask any builder.

Punter loses €5k as bookies shuts

A PUNTER who is owed money by a bookie was left reeling last week after discovering the business has shut down.
The man says he is owed a whopping €5,250 by the Tullow branch of John Wall Bookmakers.
He was horrified to discover last week that the bookmakers on Bridge Street, Tullow had shut down without paying him his dues. The local man, who asked not to be named, put a double bet on Cork to win the All-Ireland and Spain to win the World Cup.
“I went into them in October and I was fobbed off. I went back again a few days later and more excuses were made. Three times I went into them and never got my money,” he claims. “I only bet a couple of times a year and I rang the Irish Bookmakers Association because I assumed there would be some sort of insurance in place, but effectively I was told ‘tough luck’.”
Calls made by The Nationalist to John Wall’s offices in Tullow and Baltinglass went unanswered. Mr Wall, along with Baltinglass man Joseph Germaine, made headlines last year when ACC bank sought €7.6 million over unpaid commercial loans resulting from the purchase of two hotels in Courtown, Co Wexford.
When contacted, a spokesperson for the Irish Bookmakers Association said they were aware of the closure but added that John Wall was not a member of their organisation.
However, they said there is currently “no law governing the recouping of gambling debts by either bookmakers or the punter”.
They advised that “people who have an issue with unpaid debts can contact the gardaí to object to the bookmaker in case they reopen
