A 0-0 draw will do me. Rubin are a notch above what we've played so far and we get more for a point in this competition than we would get for winning the FAI Cup. Enjoy the game Giant, through gritted teeth and all.

i'd be very happy to take a draw myself..this is a big step up for our lads..i just hope we play as well as we can , and at he end of the day hold our heads up...this could show the difference between part time football and the big boys who play football full time ...still at least we made it possible for other irish teams to belive its possible...c'mon the hoops ....

Are Rubin not a big price @ 4/7? I doubt i will be playing on the game and genuinely hope Rovers do well but i thought they look a big price.
However after seeing some of the results the last 2 nights i suppose anything could happen Laugh

i think if you're working it from the point of a horse race ...its rovers coming into the gns having won a listed race and rubin having won a group 2 ..so 4/7 looks massive to me ..but sometimes those listed races bring up a unexposed one.....Cool

4/7 away from home in a country that they have never played in before is a dreadful price.  shams are starting to show signs of fatigue of late, but rubin are a depressing team to watch and i believe that under 2.5 @ 1.8 is a safer bet.  maybe 0-1, but good luck shams and do us proud please.

The void; and a nuisance

Scott Murray and Barry Glendenning
guardian.co.uk,     Thursday 15 September 2011 16.24 BST

AND ANOTHER EVENING'S EXCITEMENT BROUGHT TO YOU BY UEFA

Big Vase group stages kick off tonight with a half-dozen clubs from around the British and Irish Isles participating with varying degrees of enthusiasm. It'll probably be a bit like the way this Fiver story about Big Vase group stages kicking off has kicked off, with a half-dozen readers from around the British and Irish Isles reading it with varying degrees of enthusiasm. For those of you who haven't scrolled down to the Blue Square advert, those teams profiled ...

Tottenham Hotspur: a Big Cup team in all but ability, their manager 'Arry Redknapp has described this European competition as "a nuisance" as it distracts from the more important job of falling just short of qualifying for a different European competition only to end up in this one again next season.

Birmingham City: as a Championship side scrapping to regain their Premier League status, Big Vase matches against Braga are distractions Birmingham could probably also do without. Manager Chris Hughton has said it "can be a hindrance", but was at least gracious enough to add the caveat that "if you looked at the atmosphere and what the players gave in the [qualifying] game with Nacional, I don't think you would have seen it as a hindrance". Translation: why couldn't the lazy sods put in that kind of shift against Derby County, Middlesbrough and Watford?

Stoke City: taking on Dynamo Kyiv, the Potters are that rare beast: an English side who seem genuinely pleased to be playing in Europe, although that didn't stop Tony Pulis doing his damnedest to provoke a diplomatic incident in his pre-match press conference. "Is the Ukraine in Europe?" he asked, of the second largest contiguous country on the continent. We'd call him a Little Englander, but the Welshman would probably bristle at such a slur.

Fulham: despite their best attempts to kick and harangue their way down the Fair Play league towards the back end of last season, Fulham ended up in Big Vase and appear to have decided to make the best of a bad fist of it. They've played eight matches in this year's tournament already and will have to play 15 more to win it. Except they won't win it, somebody else will, which kind of makes you ponder the futility of it all.

Shamrock Rovers: they play in green and white hoops, enjoy huge support from Dublin's unemployed, tattooed, cider-drinking underclass and have fought tooth and nail to make it this far in the competition. We wish them well.

The Queen's Celtic: they play in green and white hoops, enjoy huge support from Dublin's unemployed, tattooed, cider-drinking underclass and have fought tooth and nail to make it this far in the competition. We wish them well.

well done the Rovers keeper, saves the penalty (even if it was a shocker) and then is quick off his line to deal with that through ball

the word on the street is that rovers are pulling out of the competition through sheer embarrassment. will they score a goal in the 6 games? a categorical NO is the answer...

the seats behind the goal were the only ones empty ...that was to be expected rubin not exactly barcelona   Laugh....my seat and a couple of hundred 200 to be exact were taken over by the media ..its a fifa directive.....as for giants question were the fook is your support ...
we had more at that game than you'd get for 5 home games.ffs......LaughLaughLaugh...
i think we showed them  to much respect...consceeded early as usual ....both halves...first goal schoolboy error ....their class came through when they went 2 up..i thought we showed tremendous fighting spirit and never gave up even at 3 down....we deserved at least a consolation goal....
still its upwards and onwords....

At the end of the day Rovers will bag a nice few quid for the 5 group games.....In soccer the more money you have the better your team will be......Money talks.

When you watch it on telly Workrider you will clearly see  the empty seats........maybe you boys put on a good spread for the media and they never came out to their seats.

Honestly i thought it would have been ala Shels v Deportivo even if it was held in Aviva, so very surprised with the empty seats in Tallaght.

Gant that's true but true in all professional sports unless their is some sort of salary cap in place i.e. NFL

There was plenty of seats empty in the stand across from where the camera was wrokrider, i was really surprised and said perhaps it was people getting there late but they didn't fill.

I thought ye did ok in the game, they obviously have better technique, more experience and are a better side but ye where not disgraced and could of got a goal in the latter part of the game.

You know though that game should have sold out today, it really goes to show you just how "Sports mad" the Irish public is. The likes of people who says they would love to watch a LOI team live had a perfect chance to today !!!!

Too damn right I wont! Mischief
I knew you would bounce it back on me but this has nothing to do with Bohs.
You`re always banging on about the great crowds you muster out there. Tonight you had the chance to prove it. EPIC FAIL.
I`d be surprised if we didn`t get more into our Salzburg game 2 years ago than you did tonight. Pathetic.
