One of the reasons for bet limitation in my opinion is because the "traders" have nothing to do mainly because they all ( or nearly all ) wont take decent bets at anything other than SP , which as we all know is a licence to print money for them given the opportunities for odds manipulation and sniping afforded by the exchanges .

So if the guys have nothing to do apart from monitoring the exchange prices to see what other people are doing and sniping  , identify the shrewder punters and limit them .

Last meeting I went to in Ireland I observed one reputably of the so called bigger bookies pitches in operation . The whole meeting one of the staff was cocooned in front of the computer screen pressing buttons , never left it for one minute .  Some people on here occasionally attempt to tell us that the bookies on course operate without recourse to latest exchange prices etc . That particular bookie operation have always operated ( pretty succesfully in their own terms ) with an element of trading , sniping , etc , backing "for the book " . And they closed my account after less than 6  months many years ago .

all part and parcel of the game but i sat with a guy last week who is a complete leisure punter but has backed a few winners in ireland with the same firm. I can't remember the horse but it was at Doncaster. He tried to have 500 @ 9/4 when it was 3.50-3.55 here, offered him 200quid. He then tried to have the balance at SP and the bet was rejected.

Surely whoever made that decision should be answering emails or making the tea or doing anything other than dealing with bet requests?
