Invincible Spirit has sired a classic winner in Lawman.

Granddaughter of Urban Sea runs for O'Brien in the first race.

Another granddaughter won in France yesterday.

i'm aware he did distant view ...its just i thought with all the chances he's had since he maybe should have had a few more by now....hence the WINNERS bit....a very good sire , but just maybe lacking a few more classic winners to cement his reputation....

Its very easy for any half wit to question the sire of this half brother to Sea The Stars in particular as his trainer has more or less stated the other day that reading between the lines this horse is ordinary.Wonks will be giving you the i told you so stuff tomorrow evening when in truth he wouldnt know whether Invincible Truth was a good sire or not,in fact he wouldnt know fukk all about it for that matter

i was away for the week and never saw a paper , so was not even aware of this horse..for you to come on here and imply that i'd heard oxx speak about him is an untruth....im only trying to start a thread about horse racing.... instead of the usual drivel that your kind seem to delight in...now either make a constructive comment or go away and leave us alone...thank you...

It is a fair point to question Invincible Spirit as a suitable mate for Urban Sea.Invincible Spirit is a speed influence and Urban Sea has the stamina and to me that combination doesnt work,i accept this would be magnified if he was a sprinter but normally with these type of combinations you get a horse with no trip.
Workrider...You have some hex on Robo/Mincer,he funked your challenge then sent in a deputy,he was duly murdered,you now have getting the name of well known sires wrong.........but imagine what Mincer would have said if the shoe was on the other foot.
It is all jealousy,heck i am jealous,Workrider back from a four day golf trip now off with family to Spain it cant be right.

The last few matings with Urban Sea were a bit baffling.

I think she slipped a foal to the unproven Shamardal as well.

It is very surprising that they never used Kingmambo on her as the mating of Kingmambo with her mother produced a classic winner in Kings Best. It looked like an obvious option.

Funnily enough i think Shamardal is going to be a great sire.Kingmambos too ground dependant for Irish racing for me.

He may well be, but at the time it seemed like a very odd decision. He has also slowed down a bit this year after a brilliant first crop. The better mares that he is getting now is likely to bring him back into the limelight though.

My Typhoon had already proven how well the Giants Causeway line worked though, so there was that positive aspect to it.

Kingmambo was a brilliant sire in my view and despite the ground versatility issues that you seem to have concerns about, he may well have given the offspring a better chance of acting on the dirt, compared to something like Sadlers Wells. Coolmore immediately tried the cross with All Too Beautiful. It really is anyone's guess how such a mating with Urban Sea would have turned out though.

wildman , it comes from hard work at least thats what i tell herself ....i've had the pleasure of seeing invincible spirit in the flesh and he is a wonderful looking horse ...but to my way of thinking he is more likely to get precocious types rather than classic winners ..so i'd agree with distant view on that score ...imo some breeders become obsessed with speed ..as we now see happening in the u.s.a...any race over a mile is considered a test of stamina...this is a big issue now for breeders , especially the commercial ones..maybe the owner decided that you need to breed down to breed up ..if that is the case i find it hard to understand ....maybe he just liked the horse , who after all , is one of the most prized stallions around....

I must say this looks a good days racing

Don McClean went for Dragon Pulse on Newstalk which Hayley O'Connor agreed with. They think Power is too short.

He also thought Fame & Glory would win but wouldn't back him at the price.

I've read a few things about soundness, or lackthereof with regard to Kingmambo.

I never heard that,they seemed tough enough to me.I think he is retired now a good consistent sire but all his stock needed good ground.

Looks a substandard National stakes and I'd be 100% certain we won't see the 2012 Newmarket 2000 Guineas winner out of tomorrow's renewal. Agreed POWER won the Coventry which looked a reasonable renewal,but after geting the better of a prolonged battle with Lilbourne Lad,it was disappointing to see him mugged on the line by subsequent Moyglare 3rd LA COLLINA. Maybe that war between him and Hannon's horse took its toll in the final 150 yards, but the softer terrain remains an unknown tomorrow .His old rival TOUGH AS NAILS will love the ground and if you could be sure about his stamina over seven furlongs he'd be the value but that remains his possible undoing !

DRAGON PULSE won a substandard Futurity Stakes and is sure to stay and love the ground,but on a line through PARISH HALL he has no chance with POWER. Still he's improving and the yard is on fire and have a lovely collection of 2 year olds and they won it with PATHFORK last season.

TALWAR is the big improver,is certain to stay,likes the ground but you look back at his Doncaster debut and you ask did they think he'd be a Group 1 Horse. He won what looked a weak Solario Stakes in very impressive style and was way superior to TRUMPET MAJOR who he'd just beat in an Ascot listed race. So did the Solario tell us we have a vastly improved horse because of testing ground on a stiff track. Sandown gets bottomless so he clearly will be ok at The Curragh tomorrow.

This looks very trappy,Ballydoyle's other horses can't be ruled out either. FURNERS GREEN looked a serious horse on his debut but disappointed when up in class in York.
Looks a race to watch,too many question marks. But if you heard Tabor was punting Jeremy Noseda's horse it could be a different kettle of fish. Again the market will be key. But it's definitely a substandard renewal,we haven't seen any wonder 2 year old yet this season. Ektihaam was impressive today but did he beat much in Doncaster.[;)]

I think ballydoyles other horses shouldn't be ruled out either.None of their horses ran well at york, reply seemed to bounce back in a way, Furners green should give a better showing. Might give vault another chance, met trouble last time, if spencer can get him to settle better he could run a big race

a most pleasing day...stated off by backing wading in the  first...thought he'd hang on about a furlong down tbh ,but the winner wore her down close home ...wading ran a cracker imo..
2nd race...
had a look at them in the paddock , experience showed a lot of white of the eye , something i dont like in a horse , an ghlanta , looked on the small side to me ,born to sea was the best looker , but he's not a masterpiece by any means ....i heard a guy near me swooning about his looks but to me he was just a very nice looking horse...i backed him at 5/2 missed all the other prices , one fellow i know sai he got 4/1..johnny gave this fellow a lovely ride and he will have learnt a lot from his first race...more to come from this fellow imo...

backed power at 11/4 missed 3/1 thats the price you pay for going to the paddock...he was last in but was worth the wait...a fine looking colt who did the business ...

Ah, now WR it was a good crowd in my book. After all everyone who had the Irish field from last week had two free entry vouchers.

You were right about Power. He was late enough in. But you have to admire the O'Brien crowd. They have multiple entries in many races and when they are late in, they still ensure that they do a couple of rounds of the paddock before the jockey's hop up. Paddock pick Imperial Monarch (A P O'Brien) came up trumps in the last. Mind you we got a bit of a drenching for our troubles there.
First three winners for me but down hill after that.
Yesterday I managed to have £2 on Good Time Sue at 20/1 on here to come out on top for the day. Small crowd. What harm, easy to get around.
