i'd say its to increase the sale of fillies at the sales ...they cant give them away...lots of breeders left holding the baby....

They're are trying to get more NH bred mares to race, so many NH mares never are risked on the track and this is a badly needed incentive imo.

thats what i mean when i say fillies ...very few nh bred fillies or mares race and with the slump in prices at the sales ...breeders left with a multitude of same....

Sorry ya, I was kind of jusst reiterating what you said on reflection, maybe a programme of juvinile hurdles for fillies, an extended programme I suppose, wouldn't have to wait so long then for the rewards and it would benefit the quality of NH horses.

Why not just make the allowance for chasers which is the reason it was increased in the first place

I read an article in the RP the other week saying that the number of NH bred mares overall racing was going down, ie, if a mare has a nice pedigree, they are just going straight to stud with them, no bumpers, hurdles or chases or even PTPs.
The reason I'd advocate juvinile hurdles, is that it might put a bit more precocity into the Irish jumping bloodlines, this would help our NH breeders compete a bit better with the French. |
