When and where are these draws made i'd like to know ?.Dermot Weld seemed to do particularly well with draws at Ballybrit this year but its nothing compared to how Coolmore seem to do at Leopardstown and the Curragh on big days.Today though takes the biscuit,in the first the eminently beatable Ahimsa is given every chance by landing the plum inside berth,in the second the very likely winner is again given every possible assistance by again landing trap 1 with the added bonus of the biggest conceivable danger being given the most unfavourable draw out in 11.On to race 4 and amazingly Viscount Nelson is handed yet another trap 1 draw, right alongside his likely pacemaker with one of the biggest dangers posted on the wide outside.Misty for Me is drawn two in the next, just on the outside of no hoper and likely pace setter Ballybacka Lady with second favourite emulous again amazingly on the outside of the field.Just to take the dirty look of it snow fairy has received trap 1 in the big race of the day, saying that with her running style, that will be more of a hindrance than a help in a small field .In any case she isnt in all likelihood going to be good enough to trouble So You Think. In effect if a fair draw has taken place the odds of receiving the inside in race one and two is exactly 10/1 in each case, while Viscount nelson was 6/1 to gain the inside. So that is an 846/1 treble landed, maybe thats a coincidence, but forgive me for being slightly cynical.

You might be on to something there but the draw doesnt matter in races of a mile or more. The draw is vital in the six furlong races because they are running straight into a turn and the stalls are ramrod straight so those with a low draw effectively cut the corner. The draw counts in seven furlong races but the way the surmount the problem is deliberately miss the break and drop your horse out,Johnny Murtagh has perfected this at Sligo.

Wildman, the draw can be vital in many races at all distances on the flat.I would say a low draw would be of huge benefit in a mile or even a 10f race at Leopardstown .In Chester the draw is deemed vital in races up to and including 18f.York and Ascot are two other tracks where the right draw is a necessity at races run over further than a mile

Agree about Chester because you are turning all the time but today at Leopardstown it wont make any difference in The Matron Stakes or The Champion Stakes small fields and distance.

So you are saying to me that emulous is at no disadvantage in stall 8,and being drawn 2 is of no benefit to misty for me?.I cannot agree with that assessment to be honest

Of course the draw affects you as it pretty much decides how you ride your race. Its one thing being able to bang one out from a wide draw in a maiden and come across but thats not an option in many cases. Even when drawn inside and you decide to drop one out last it often means that you run the risk of being stopped down the inside or having the circle the field widest of all bar you get a lucky split at the right time. In small field group races the draw may not be a huge factor as the field will sort itself out either way but to say it doesn't matter at all in races further than a mile is patently incorrect.

Sometimes a good draw can be a disadvantage it all depends on the horse.Emolous is normally a hold up horse so i dont think stall eight is a problem.Allduckornodinner your point is a general one and correct i was responding to Mincers post about today at Leopardstown where the draw in the mile plus races seem insignificant.
Forget about the draws and watch the 4.10 i think you are going to see a real good horse in Akeed Mofeed and a real race as he has significant opposition in Athens and Roman General am travelling for that race mainly.

It will be hard to forget the draw wildman should Akeem or Emulous fail by narrow margins to their better drawn Coolmore opposition today

All well and good lads, but when and where are the draws made? Can the public watch the draws for races being made. Im sure i saw a draw being made for a greyhoud final at a country track a few years ago.

aiden o brien contested 17 maidens at leopardstown this flat season..in 15 of those races he had a horse  drawn either 1 2 or 3.....foot soldier was drawn 6 of 6..mannheim and astrology in the same race were drawn 6 and 9..........out of the 17 races they only had 3 horses drawn in the outside 4... foot soldier..astrology and dr livingstone..th last 2 both second strings by the way....to say the draw dosent matter over a mile or 10 furlongs at leopardstown wildclown is nothing short of moronic...

Bobbybocala did you watch the races today, did you even read my post. Are you so blinded by hate that you think the draw was a factor in the Champion Stakes. If you had read my posts you would have backed a few winners but i get the feeling you dont back horses.
Mincer as both Akeed Mofeed and Emulous won handy it is fair to say the draw was not a factor and if you reread my posts both races panned out exactly as i said they would,i realise this will drive you and Bobbybocala to distraction but such is life.

Did you notice the race results, the two horses Mincer mentioned as being affected by the draw both won and Akeed Mofeed  race was over seven furlongs.
Do you really think the draw made any difference in the ten furlong races on the card?
By:

Wildman, the results today are irrelevant. Both horses won easily today and could have won from any draw. There seems little point in arguing with somebody who will not admit when he is patently incorrect. No matter what anybody says you will come up with some ridiculous reason why stall 1 is the same as stall 11 in a 7f race at Leopardstown, and that Emulous was at no disadvantage in stall 8.

wildclown this is my last time responding to you because you are just too thick..just because the draw didnt affect the result one day that dosent mean it wont afffect it the next day..in the 7 furlong maiden pre race they bet 4-6 and 11-4..if the draws were reversed they wud of bet something close to 5-4 and 7-4....does that not tell you that the draw matters..no doubt it dosent..

When i arrived at Leopardstown and saw they were using the inside track it fair shook my confidence in Akeed Mofeed, thankfully i got over it.We are all in agreement about the draw in the seven furlong maiden where we disagree is the significance of the Leopardstown draw in the longer races.Bobbybocala fails to answer my question about the Champion Stakes but Mincer does. In his opening post he states.....Snow Fairy has received trap 1 in the big race, that will be more of a hindrance than a help in a small field......
Those same sentiments apply to Emulous, who as i pointed out to you before the race is a hold up horse so stall 8 was no disadvantage.

Wildman, emulous or any other horse would not be inconvenienced by stall 8 if it was going to be dropped out.Saying that from stall 8 you have no choice but to ride a waiting race in a group 1 in particular. My argument is that misty for me with her running style was positioned beautifully from trap 2,had it been good enough to capitalise

Agreement at last,am glad you have finally conceeded my point about Emulous, the reason wasnt as ridiculous as you thought.
By:

You miss the point wildman, whatever you say emulous from stall 8 had to give the whole field a start and run around the other 7 to get her challenge in which ultimately was successful .Not every horse would have been able to overcome such hardship, and much credit is due to her for doing so

That last post of mine was a mistake because i need Mincer and Bobbybocala to hate me for financial reasons.Three times when i was destroying them in an argument out of pity i gave them a horse to back in mid flight, they all won.I know Mincer backed Whatever It Takes when he won at 9/2 at Tipperary but doubt Bobbybocala did, during my personal favourite,Gorey Post Office thread,i was again toying with the two of them this time i advised a sporting wager on Safari Sunup i backed him at 18 he touched 20 and duly went in and in this thread again i branched off to give them another winner, this time a 7/2 shot.
I need these two to keep up the arguments, a trend has developed, have i finally got it cracked.
